Anyone Own/ Drive a Max Wedge Car

I put together a 63 Dodge 330 for a customer a few years ago. He was fortunate to find a real 426 Max engine. Engine had sat for years. Took it down to short block to inspect. All std. with factory cam. Simply amazing! Did a 727 with a small convertor, 2500 ish. 4.10 spooled rear. It drove ok...

    HELP NO REVERSE! 65 barracuda

Kickdown adjustment effects the line pressure. It will not make a transmission engage gears in neutral or park. It is straight up a malfunction of the direct clutch, period. If the fluid looks good and doesn't smell burnt, it is a parts malfunction in the direct pack. If the fluid IS burnt, then...

    HELP NO REVERSE! 65 barracuda

Does it feel like the engine still labors or wants to "drive" in park? If so, the malfunction is then in the forward clutch pack. Not to be confused with the forward most drum inside. Reverse is a function of the low/reverse band and the direct clutch engaging simultaneously. The fact that it...

Can I use a Gen 3 Hemi with a small block engine?

Use appropriate conversion flex plate. Available from ATI, Bouchillon Performance, etc.

    HELP NO REVERSE! 65 barracuda

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, be prepared to maybe pull the trans. If the band itself is broken, only way to get to it is through complete trans disassembly. Post up pics when you get to it.

    HELP NO REVERSE! 65 barracuda

Surely an issue with the low/reverse band. Assuming it's a 904, those early ones are known for breaking the anchor on the band. Toolman has a valid point as well, pull the pan and check the band strut.

Bonneville Landspeed Racing - Let's Try a Thing.

I believe it might be the same eight bolt flange as early Hemi engines. If running an aluminum Torqueflite or a GM trans even, Hot Heads has the appropriate adapters.

Let's hear your "black widow" part story.

Edelbrock TR5 tunnel ram for small block. Dad bought it at a swap and had it sitting in his living room for about ten years. Then we built the gasser Cuda for the tunnel ram in my avatar.

Help, Please - Gen III Hemi - Voltage Regulator

The spacing is also different from the early to Eagle. The pulley will be back a bit. Powermaster makes a one wire Eagle alternator. Expensive.

Help, Please - Gen III Hemi - Voltage Regulator

The newer alternator is not the same. The 03-early 08 will accept the old school wiring/regulator. The new stuff is ALL pcm/ecm controlled.

J-Fag is a fuckin idiot plain and simple. This is WAAAY of the subject, but, gives some insight to my observation. When I was first selling parts here, I had a set of Lakewood traction bars up for sale. I listed the part number and actual pics of product. Looking up the part number, you would...

    360 street build, please critiec

Reconsider the Chevy 1.6 ratio. Use 1.65 to achieve 1.6. The factory stamped steel are actually pretty close ratio wise. Magnum engines are 1.6 ratio. I have mocked up Chevy 1.6 on 318B heads. No matter the length of pushrod or how far up or down on the stud(rocker arm), the loss of lift was...

    The horse is dead

Let's put this into perspective. Take Hughes out the equation. The OP is beating his chest about years of experience. DECADES of experience. To which I'm not doubting. Nor am I doubting that Dave can be "short". The OP has basically already all but admitted to being sloth about not wanting to...

    The horse is dead

I've dealt with Mr. Hughes for decades. I can honestly say I have had not one disagreement with the man. Am I lucky? I don't think so. I, too, have assembled many engines. I would say "built" but I don't have machines in-house. When discussing possible issues with Dave, he is always to the...

Gen III Hemi LSA vs wedge engine.

They are both Hughes cams. Unfortunately, he dumped all his gen 3 availability. The 426 is 4.08 bore, 4.08 stroke. Heavily modified early heads. Johnson juice lifters, stock rockers and shafts, Stanke collars and tie bars. Tall Ritter drag pak intake. Had a 1050 Dominator on when I raced it in...

Gen III Hemi LSA vs wedge engine.

I have two 6.1 engines, one stock stroke, the other a 426. The 426 has a 107, and, the stock stroke has a 110. They both run very well. The stock stroke 6.1 has just under .550 lift. The clearance is just enough.

    Carb intake choice

The Arrow/Prefix WILL absolutely fit under a Hemi scoop. The hood will shut with NO carb stud. It would be close with the Ritter/Drag Pak. Most of the carb is all out the hood with that one.
