Good Afternoon The factory gauge is electric. A mechanical gauge, if installed, offers a backup.

As an aside the peanut head does have a divot close to the thermostat housing that could be drilled/tapped for a mechanical gauge.

I wasn't aware that a 1/8 npt would accommodate a mechanical gauge. I thought they were in the 3/8 range.

Good Day It depends on the Ohms value. That was the nice thing about the buyers guide, it gave you all that info. The Dart has a gauge not a light.

May be a long shot, but have you looked for the build sheet? Usually found tucked under the rear seat springs. If that is also gone then no way that I know of. 198's were USUALLY for fleet sales. Good Luck and God Speed. '64 DART
