    I believe it keeps pressure on the bearing and white plastic support assembly to keep it in the column tube. The later year column bearing is bolted in. Follow the instructions in the kit or factory service manual.

    Tips for removing sleeve off of lower control arm pivot bolt?

    Put the pivot bolt on top of a vice or other heavy piece of metal and hit the sleeve with a heavy hammer while turning it. The hammer loosens up the sleeve and it will slide off.

    LCA pivot pins into new bushings:(

    First you press the pin into the bushing and then the bushing and pin into the lower control arm using the lip on the bushing. Do not press it in using the pin or it will push out the sleeve.

    CJ's Rods & Machines Inc in North Carolina makes a bearing, collar, and spring kit for the 67 mopar columns. I used one when I rebuilt my floor shift steering column and it worked perfect. They rebuild steering columns and also sell parts, you can contact them at www.cjsrods.com
