Well, won’t be racing anytime soon

Glad to see, that car is too beautiful to not have an engine in it!

Any Yamaha mechanics on here ?

You’ll probably be fine, it’s not a high performance engine so some shifting in timing shouldn’t cause piston to valve interference. There usually tends to be a lot of slop when you completely pull the tensioner so you don’t want to jump any teeth on the crank/cam. Once you get it back together...

Any Yamaha mechanics on here ?

To add, if there are teeth on the protruding shaft then you will probably have to disengage a little paw that locks into those teeth to get the shaft back in.

Any Yamaha mechanics on here ?

That’s a cam chain tensioner that is spring loaded. Take the bolt out of the tower to relieve the pressure, install the body and bolt it in, then insert the bolt and spring into the tower. Don’t rotate the engine until it’s all back together.

    Electric fuel pump failure. Recommendation?

My Walbro will pull fuel without being primed and’s been working for 8 years (not daily driver). Can’t really complain about it, may one day get a new tank with in tank pump for the Gucci AN fittings :)

New to the group and to owning a 70 swinger.

Welcome from Southern California, beautiful 70 Dart, much nicer than mine!

    71 ECS tank vent ??

I think you would be fine, believe the four vents just go to the four corners of the tank. You can probably look through the filler hole and see where they go. When I put a return line on my 70 Dart I drilled a hole in the sender unit and silver soldered a tube in, your way may be easier.

Interesting & creative tools, even if they are flops

Only Hollywood could successfully pull off the use of that tool! For the love of God don’t try to use it, you’ll be bleeding all over the place!

    Ultra XP850 Almost there!

I noticed when I went too small on the TSRs that I would get a delay when I tipped into the throttle while cruising, even on the mains.

Interesting & creative tools, even if they are flops

My grandfather had one of these, the Yankee Screwdriver. The idea is that you push on the handle and as it travels down the shaft it spins the bit and either screws in or screws out whatever fastener you are working with. Reality, you wind up punching whatever material you are trying to screw...

    Ultra XP850 Almost there!

I’ve been surprised by the difference in what my son and I see when we compare that to the data log from my Innovate. Added bonus is I can compare to the throttle position sensor and RPM.

    Ultra XP850 Almost there!

That’s what the bottom holes pin’d out to, production tolerance I guess? At my son’s high school graduation ceremony so can’t look at my notes from my previous tinkering. Know what you mean about the rabbit hole, did that a couple of years ago. Read through most of the stuff on race...

    Ultra XP850 Almost there!

I’m pretty sure I’m on the booster, can see it go rich on the O2 gauge. I’m running 4:10’s with 275/55/15 tires which are pretty close to around 26”.

    Ultra XP850 Almost there!

Thanks. Probably should have added more info, but didn’t expect Tim and you to actually try and figure it out! Lol It’s a 410 with ported Edelbrock heads and Victor 340. Cam is 251/258 @ 50, 110 separation and .556 lift with 1.6 rockers. Quickfuel 850HR so has replaceable PVCR jets and .07 jets...

    Ultra XP850 Almost there!

Hi Tim, this is currently where I'm at. Need to get to Barona and run it with the 5303 headers and see where I'm at. Engine was dyno'd by Brain at IMM with the middle emulsion bleeds open, but I plugged them to help with cruise. Primary Main Jet 75 Idle Feed Restriction 0.035...

    Ultra XP850 Almost there!

The only thing I haven’t messed with on mine is the air bleeds and PVCR as I’ve been pretty happy with the profile over rpm’s. Only looking for about .5 leaner afr at cruise so may just mess with it and see what happens.

Interested as well, let us know Mike, about to head down this path as well. Have gotten pretty close to where I want to be, but the results of your testing may get me all the way there.

    TTI HEADER VS P/S BOX

This is pretty much what I did, except used 1/8, had it laying around, on both sides to keep everything level and had a ton of room.

Small block headers: worst to best fitting. List your experience.

My 5303’s from Adrian (lead69 Thanks!) were easier to install than pulling my Doug’s. There pretty much is only one or two ways to install them, mixed Adrian’s and Tim’s instructions, but detachable collectors are the ****.
