Thank you for the pictures. You can definitely see the differences between the 67 and 68 years. I am taking the path of swapping out the entire column instead of the piecemeal approach. The latter of which looks like too much of a headache.....

Older cars are always a challenge, somewhat of a hair loss program at times! I did find a link to a thread from a guy that swapped the upper collars from 68 floor shift steering column to a 67 column shift steering column. That makes me think the aftermarket 68-69 floor shift collars will work...

Thanks for the measurement and the images. At least the collar ID is the same. However the increase in height makes me wonder if the attachment point of the floor shift collar to the Inner tube would be the same between a 67 column shift and 68 floor shift steering column.....might have to buy...

You had a better starting point than I with a floor shift column. Picture below shows a gap between the outer tube and lower column collar for my setup. Can you measure the inside diameter at the bottom from the 68 lower column collar? That might give me an idea of the after market column...

Man, I really gotta read things more slowly. Your question above refers to the stainless drip moulding, not the chrome trim that goes around the rear windshield. So is it the drip moulding P/N's that are different for the hardtop vs. vinyl top or are there different chrome trim moulding P/N's...

Misread your message. When I bought the car, it had the chrome moulding on it, but the vinyl top was gone.

The only remnants are what is shown in the picture. It looks like something other than vinyl. Sort of like a fiber cloth of some sort, it's stiff as well.

So, basically, I need to find chrome moulding for a hardtop and use that in place of what I have...

It was a vinyl roof car, that would make sense. I won't be installing a vinyl on the roof, going to leave it a hardtop instead. Is it ok to remove those stakes or should I leave them in when I have a new gasket installed? I would think its best to pull them and seal them up. Still not sure...

Nice job on your conversion, I actually watched that video before during my research on various options. I have decided to go with the QA1 K-Frame, not for the racing aspect, but more so for a known good part to start with for my project, not to mention additional clearance for the engine...

I don't have the skillset to weld it properly, otherwise I might consider it. By the time I did that, reinforced it at other weak points, cleaned it up, powder coated it, it costs more time and money than buying a QA1 K-Frame (found one below current market price).

I might consider that approach if I was going to keep the K-frame. What I did proved a point and got it back to where it should be (or close enough). That Idler arm brace is a weak design as it stands from the factory. I could weld it up and reinforce it for more strength as noted above, but...
