I've gotten new headers, and seen the weld on the rear of flange weren't square. Filed em down, like said many times above

Not familiar with this, in your case. Personally, I'd lay the header in, mark the Boss, pull the header outta the way, zip tie or bungee it up, grind some, drop er back in, and repeat. Don't do like I did when I dropped that seven or eight quart freaking Milodon pan in my Duster, with the 727...

Ok. Makes sense now, to me anyway. The 68 had factory PS, and the Manual unit I scored was outta a 65 dart wagon looking thing...

When I converted my 68 Coronet 383 4 spd car to Manual ( Whhaaa, I Miss Her!!) It was the same. And my Brother Tugboat elongated the shaft, w/o any adapters. There is collapsible plastic pins in them. DO NOT DO THIS. Disclaimer... for Real

Here's what I did. Find the Most Annoying ( meaning THE Point ) of First contact, that's keeping Everything from layin' in. Modify, eliminate, change that 1st. Then, tackle the smaller issues.

I had to clearance the lower ps box bolt, and maybe a Lil box mount area. Also, a Dimple here and there.

For 73 and up, you could always tack a front washer.... or make, have made an offset washer...

That 8qt, in a Duster, was an issue. Hell, I had to notch my K... The only difference, I was told , the Patriots are Mexican. Still, killer , well built headers. Ps, yers are Sweet!
