I don’t recall your engine build but if it’s a mild build with under 400 hp the OD will work great . I ran one in a 73 340 4sp Dart Sport and drove it from Boise to BIR raceway in MN …ran high 12s and drove home . People couldn’t believe I drove all that way with it . Springs shouls be fine …...

I try not to drive recklessly (anymore) but do like a car that goes where I point it and I live in the mountains so I encounter lots of sharp turns with fast moving rivers beside me or 1000’ drops .

If you drive halfway sane that is true . We drove these cars in stock form for decades and thought they were fine . I didn’t use a rear sway until around 2015ish . But man it really made the car hold the road . I currently run 205/70-14s because I like the stock understated look and it still...

Smooth is the winner . Again… the top pros I have been with don’t look or feel like they are going that much faster but they never scrub speed . It’s an art !

Skiing and Motocross experience actually gave me some insight into picking lines and looking through corners . Not to say I can really drive … but they give you a head start . The faster you’re going the farther ahead you look .

Much like a 911…. If you are not familiar with how to drive a rear engine car you can total one quickly. A technician in Bend Or put a customers 911 GT2 into the jersey barrier on a post service drive . Not an easily replaceable car !

That Austin looks like a blast to drive ! I sold high end cars for 25 years …. BMW , Porsche, Mercedes,Jag , Acura and Audi. ( 2 different dealers ) and the manufacturers would put on “Ride and drives”…. They would have their newest models and the competition there to drive . Some events were...

While all that may be true spirited street driving is a long way from autocross or road racing. I know some will chime in saying they drive like that on the street but I don’t. I live in the mountains and I just want a predictable good handling car that holds the road . Driving to the limit on...

Who here has experience building a drift car out of an A body?

Would it be possible to use an RV trany with a drum parking brake to initiate your drift ? That would save the rears and apply more braking force to rear tires ( if I am thinking this through correctly) . I grew up in Minnesota driving first a 73 Monaco wagon with a 400 then a 73 318 Dart...

Refused to re-install motor into Yellow Barracuda with black engine bay !

Good for you ! Mopar engine bays are the best looking because of the contrasting colors . I flew out to Minnesota last month to put my brothers 400 back together in his 69 bird and although it’s an awesome car the engine bays is SO bleak ! At least Pontiac has a cool metallic blue engine.

High pressure return line power steering, 1960 Valiant. Advice please.

Probably old and deteriorating. Are there threaded fittings on the old ones or just nipples and hose clamps ? Like Toolman said returns are not high pressure.

Your tires will move rearward when the springs get compressed so unless they are rubbing no worries.

Relocating the rear differential 1.25” towards the rear of the vehicle on a 72 Dart

Yep … tire moves rearward as springs compress. I did add a 1” aluminum block as a spacer to my Swinger so I could run a tire that would rub otherwise .

    Stance

Jacked up rear ends were the result of big tires and not having the capability to narrow the rear end . It throws your weight distribution and steering angles off . My dart handles nice , drives straight and stable as well as launches really well even with 500+ hp and torque. Interesting thing...

    Traction ideas???

Make sure your leaf spring U-bolts are torqued to factory spec. Most people way overtorque them . The individual springs need to move around a bit on the interleaf shims. This may have no effect for your situation but it can’t hurt to check .
