    A833 gear interchangeable?

And I see you are in SF ( love SF !) so you have steep hills to contend with . A 20% change in gears will definitely be noticeable when you’re at a stoplight on one of those hills . Hint… line lock is for more than just racing .

    A833 gear interchangeable?

It really depends on your engine build and intended use . If you have a big cam and want to street drive it the tall 1st gear of the close ratio trany will make it jumpy at low speeds . I run a 2.67 1st gear in my 69 Swinger with a 408 and 246/250 - 108 -.648 lift cam . With 3.55s I can feel...

    A833 gear interchangeable?

I would rather have the 3.09 1st of the early trany myself . That way you can run 3.55s or 3.23s and have both a low 1st and hiway cruising speeds .

Just get a u-joint adapter for the early one and sell the close ratio … ( T/A or AAR trany ? )

    A833 slip yoke problem/driveshaft

Most companies give you directions on where to measure. And most all that I have used say to measure from the metal part of the trany boot to the pinion yoke whithout the cap on it. I see tour picture measiuring from the end of the rubber boot. Make sure the caps are not on the pinion yoke...

    A833 slip yoke problem/driveshaft

Did you measure from the end of the boot or the end of the trany when you ordered ? Always measure from end of trany tail housing because not all seals have an extended boot .

    A833 slip yoke problem/driveshaft

Are you saying the yoke itself will only go in 1/2 way or that once bolted to the diff flange ? As in not long enough shaft ? There are 2 different length yokes with that spline and U-Joint size. I have run into this before .

    In A Pickle

I crashed my dirtbike and snapped shift lever retaining bolt off . It was a 1/4” bolt and a 1/2” shift shaft . I had a buddy with a lathe and had him machine a 2” long section of 1” round stock with a 1/2” hole 1” deep. Then a 1/8” hole through the other 1” . Bought a 1/8” reverse drill bit to...

    In A Pickle

First off ditch the Haynes manual . They give you just enough info to get yourself in trouble . Luckily it’s not a blind hole if it’s the pressure plate to flywheel bolts . Is the trany/engine in the car ? You will need to make sure the drill doesn’t walk when drill the hole in the bolt and...

    5.9 Magnum-833od Q

I wonder why Chrysler didn’t drill them all to the same depth?

    5.9 Magnum-833od Q

Have the crank bored to depth. Trimming the input shaft will render the trany worthless and the extra length helps stability . Which means less chance of vibration.

Lightweight flywheel options and selection criteria.

I run a Mcleod 22lb sfi behind the 408 in my Swinger . W2 heads 246/250 on 108 cam and 3.91 gears. No issues street driving . A 3.09 first gear would make it perfect !

    18 spline A body 4 speed

Yeah … the 855 was re- engineered trany with new parts sourcing . Expect headaches in an endeavor like that . The Hemi 833 has been around forever and relible parts easily attained from experienced vendors . Many can build those in their sleep . Passon and Brewers are best known shops for them .

    18 spline A body 4 speed

There are a few out there that were disappointed with his 5 speed 833. I can’t imagine there would be any issue with a run of the mill 18 spline 833 . He has been doing them for decades .
