Millions of stock rebuilds have been done reusing the rod bolts. If you resize, install new or don't install new bolts without resizing the rods....

#995 Comps are used on their comparable cams.
Always a dilemma.
If they are nice on the outside and don't need to be restored, just degrease and scrape the underside. The build up won't hurt their performance....

Sounds like a rod knock. You can pull the plug wires off the cap one at a time and see which cylinder it is.
