That is a sending unit for a factory tach. It would have been mounted on the left side kick panel.

I run 225/45/17s on the front of my 66 Cuda with a Helwig bar, no rubbing at all. 245/45/17s on the back and no rubbing there either.
We raced our winged sprint car there last weekend. Qualified 2nd finished 3rd. Fun fast race track.
I have the Borgeson box with the Bergman coupler in my 66 Cuda with Dougs headers no issues at all. Engine is tied down.
