One from the past. Brown Sugar

I'd like to see how much money he won with that car. Pretty sure he built a 62 after the Brown Sugar crash, it was called Shewanda.

speedmaster stuff pulled from Summit racing shelves

I don't think there is a member who think Edelbrock reinvented anything. Their head was sold as a direct replacement for a stock head, that'd be hard to do if you moved the rockers, changed exhaust & intake bolt pattern and port locations. They did make improvements though, smaller stem valves...

speedmaster stuff pulled from Summit racing shelves

John, it's not so much about where it's made as it is about copying someone else's design. China made is a fact of life everywhere in the world today. If speedmaster was paying for a license to reproduce or a royalty, it would be a different story. Would you be happy if someone took a set of...

Pretty low grade if he knew crane was copying them.

speedmaster stuff pulled from Summit racing shelves

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Companies spend millions to develop and market a product, then someone like speedmaster has it copied in china with no developmental cost and sell it cheap. It's easier to make money when someone else has done the work and all you have to do is replicate it.

Here at the US131 opening day test and tune

Stick with it Don, you'll get there.

Sneaking in without a roll cage

I'd take it to a test & tune, make some easy hits to get familiar with the staging process, where the stripe is and how the car is going to react. Once I had a good feeling for it, I'd make a full hard pass. If it's too fast and you get tossed ask the tech guy to look at the car and tell you...

$60K will buy an already built nice, fast car.

    Which intake?

No experience with M1 but several years ago I looked at a complete but apart 390ish inch W5 headed engine. It had a heavily welded W2 intake on it. When I asked why, the owner said his builder didn’t like any of the W5 intakes. My Indy headed 434 has an Indy intake.

    Head gasket recommendations

I've never had any issues with the Fel Pro 1008, but 11.4-1 is the most compression I've ran.

    340 X Head Value

Not from the same era, but how do Magnum heads compare to X heads since the "best factory small block head" has been mentioned a few times.

Best performing non offset Small block Mopar heads

^^This^^ I build all of my stuff, transmissions, fabrication and set up my rears. I built the Indy headed 434 small block that's in my Dart now and have been pleased with it. I did talk to a few guys that I respect to pick their brains. If I were building a high dollar, top shelf parts small...

    SB Stroker Intake Choices

I ran one on my Edelbrock headed 340, it took a bit of work to port match, but it worked well. IMHO, it's borderline small for a stout stroker, that's why I recommended the Victor. The Victor that I ran on my 408 took a ton of grinding to port match, it had a lot of core shift.

    SB Stroker Intake Choices

For a performance stroker I'd never run a dual plane, ever. In the OP's situation I'd run the Weiand and be looking for a used Victor.

    360 stroker questions

Mid 11's should be easy with a 408, my 340 went 11.60 @ 116 in my 3260# Dart. It was 11.4-1, pump 93, ported Edelbrocks, port matched Victor intake, 236/242° @ .050", IIRC the lift was in the .590" range, 4.30 gears and 275 radials. It liked being shifted at 6400. A few years later I put the top...

How much weight gain from adding a Dana and roll cage.

Aftermarket support is part of it. You can bet if the demand for Dana parts was equal to the 9" stuff there would equal parts available. These guys are chasing numbers, if the Dana gave them an advantage, that's what they'd be running. That alone tells me that the higher friction of the 9"...

How much weight gain from adding a Dana and roll cage.

Can you define "much more"? One of the car mags did an article years ago and yes, the Dana and 12 bolt needed less torque than the 9". But, if it was a substantial amount, you can bet the guys running the fast heads up stuff would be running Danas and 12 bolts and the aftermarket support for...

    Big Inch Smallblock

When I hear guys stating that long stroke combos can't rev. I always ask, "what do you considering high rpms"? The answer has been all over the place.

I dynoed my 434" small block, it was the best money spent on the entire build, IMO.

How often do you drain your air compressor?

Mine gets drained for five seconds every forty five minutes via an automatic drain valve. From the valve there is a piece of 1/4” copper tube ran through the wall to the outside. Unless you change the oil in the compressor often I wouldn’t put it outside. My brother put his outside under a...
