    66 Dart still surgeing.Electrical??

Sometimes in extremely rare situations the alternator can cause an electrical short...meaning that something inside the alt. is grounding out the positive circuit direct to ground which would cause the surge that you are experiencing...so, have you had the alt. checked for shorts?...that can be...

    Urgent help needed

I suppose it's too late at this point...but what you should have done was use an old soup can (clean of course), fill with clean oil and drop the lifters in and let soak over night...then just before dropping them in...I used a big #3 phillups screwdriver and with the lift under oil would pump...

Charger IRS in a 69 Dart!!...

I found the info for the wheel pattern...the Charger runs a 5X115mm while the Dart runs a 5X4.5 which equates in metric measurement to a 114.3mm...that's only a .7mm difference...split that measurement into a circle pattern between 5 lugs and you're splitting hairs...some guys are running the...

Charger IRS in a 69 Dart!!...

I am a little shocked that the charger is wider...from a standing view point it does'nt look wider...the dart measures 69.5" while the charger is 74.5"...but if you look at the size of tire they use compared to the 69 tire I may be able to make this work...still more physical measuring will need...

    415HP from 318ci IS POSSABLE!!

No I can't, that is why I am not buying the motor...it looks pretty with a bunch or billet parts bolted on but no dyno papers. I think you have me wrong nemesis...I am not saying that you don't know what your doing as I am certain that you build some nice motors...I'm just saying that BJR has...

    415HP from 318ci IS POSSABLE!!

I tell you what BJR...that is a scream 'n price for a 400+HP 318...I did have a original budget of $2500 bucks...but just remember I am a old Ford guy and Ford and Chevy parts are way cheaper then Mopar...so if $1300 is the breaking point of a well built 318, then it must be worth every cent...I...

    415HP from 318ci IS POSSABLE!!

I don't know much about the 302 heads...what I do know is the 360 J heads sport some good sized intake ports...so I assume that the 302 head is in between my existing 318 head and the 360 J design?...I do know that torque is made with a smaller valve and carb set up and if you go past the limit...

    415HP from 318ci IS POSSABLE!!

Soo....there is a lot of discussion going on to building a streetable high performance 318...this is great!...I have read all the previous posts and there seems to be a lot of different opinions here on what combo is the best...the other builds in my opinion seems to be a lot more money then my...

Anyone have a custom dash?...looking for ideals...

That's a really nice wiring job...I noticed that you used connectors to remove the dash if needed...very nice work!...I do the same thing when I make custom dashes...use LEDs for turn and high beam indicators and brake warning light.

    Never tried this before!

Can't get anything stronger then a 9"...lots of options and rear disk brakes if you want...to rebuild shouldn't cost too much...should be done for around $300 bucks if you do most the work yourself...and since the pumpkin is removable you can have your mechanic set the back lash and the rest of...

    66 Dart still surgeing.Electrical??

I would check the plugs...I'm willing to bet they're fouled...my souped up Ranchero does the same thing after doing too many short trips...I don't think the balancer is causing your surge...good luck

I very well rounded write up indeed...and appreciate the suggestions. 415HP from 318ci IS POSSABLE!!

Wow!!...I didn't know there were so many 318 hatters here...I really expected a little more energy, enthusiasm if you will...even if you copied the build down to a T and ran a 600-650cfm carb to make as you all say more streetable...I think an honest 325-350HP is very streetable in my...

    415HP from 318ci IS POSSABLE!!

I wanted to share this info that I found on Engine Masters...my first thoughts on my 69 Dart was to do a 5.7 or 6.1 Hemi swap...then I found this site: Mopar Engine - 318 Engine With 415 Horsepower - Engine Masters Magazine So why go big block or even a 340 or 360 when 400HP will do the job...

With aftermarket carbs and cams, using a vacuum gauge to set timing and fine tune the carb is the only way to get the engine in tune since so much has been changed...that's how I do it:read2:
