    What rear springs to run?

It's not always about ride height, but how the suspension feels, and if the springs are original they should be replaced after being bounced on for 40 years. You can end up with a height the same as you have now but with a better ride. You can get the car about 1" lower if the new springs are...

318/XE262/#302 heads and what stall converter/rear end

Yeah no swirly swirly on it. Too tight in the bore.

318/XE262/#302 heads and what stall converter/rear end

Those are good points Chief. I would do the rear before a converter, or both if affordable. 3.55 would be real nice for all around drive-ability, either 8 1/4" rear or 8 3/4"...probably the latter because he might want to keep the small bolt pattern to match the front small bolt KH discs...

318 head gaskets and water jacket holes

Yes that's what I see...there IS a freeze plug there...it's just that it wasn't a nice new brass one! :violent1: Fresh ones are cheap insurance and IMO it's best to use some sealant around them before installing.

Tie Rod ends & Adjusters ?s

I've used the C body tie rod ends on 2 early A body's, '64 valiant and '64 dart, a friend is putting them in his '72 valiant today as well. tie rods #ES352R & ES355L and C Body sleeve #ES440S I like the rockauto.com prices and the Raybestos professional grade parts. Rockauto also has parts...

    t5 trans swap?

737jetdr, you mentioned McCleod's #1302, their website lists this part as a bolt on hydraulic bearing for a GM BorgWarner T5. They list a slip on bearing #1400-30 as the one for a Ford BorgWarner T5. Just wondering what your experiences are with them, or anyone else who has used either of...

    master cylinder pushrod interchange

Or this adjustable pushrod from Doctor Diff http://tinyurl.com/msyyh6 I am using it with AndyF's late model adapter, and an 82 Dodge truck aluminum master cylinder and it works fine, but I think I could have stayed with the original single pot pushrod and adjusted the brake light switch...

    Changing to BBP on 83/4

The Moser axles stick out +1/4" on each side vs. the SBP axles. This could be an issue with certain backspace wheels, but shouldn't be a problem unless you are running tight tire clearances already. My brakes came from 89 Dakota and 85 5th Ave. They are 10x2.5"

    Changing to BBP on 83/4

Yes, that is an option if you want to stay with your old brakes, just redrill the drums. My SBP 10x1.75" drums were bad so I changed to the BBP 10x2.5". Moser can also make axles to work with your redrilled SBP brakes but you have to tell them what brakes you are using. Next time I will call...

    Changing to BBP on 83/4

Call Cass (Doctor Diff - http://www.doctordiff.com ) and get him to make the axles for you. He can make them any length depending on bearing choice and center section (with or without thrust spacers, thrust block, etc). My guess is that if you are still using tapered adjustable bearings on the...

    Green Bearings on Moser axles

After talking to Dr. Diff the other day, he explained that the early open pigs had a more squarish looking center spacer (which I had in my 741 case) and the sure grips have the button type spacer(s?). Anyway, I politely asked Cass to send me a new sure grip (after giving my cc number ;)) since...

    Leadfoot Rally '73 Duster

Here are 2 more good wheel calculators: http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp http://www.autolounge.net/calculators/tirespacing.html By the way, Duster346, what brake hoses did you use to run the calipers in the rear? I have to decide on which way to run mine, I remember reading...

    Brake upgrade questions

I'd stick with manual but that's my opinion. The master cylinder bore size will be determined by your preference of pedal feel and the size of the caliper bores in the brake setup you're running, which will have a different bias balance if it's non-stock brakes.

    adjustable strut rods?

Ok, I just read your thread on the LCA bushing situation, wow that is a pain in the arse. I'm using rubber LCA bushings on my 64 Valiant because about 15 years ago I had problems similar to yours on my 73 Scamp. Those darn poly ones just gave me a headache, the LCA pins would spin inside the...

    adjustable strut rods?

I would consider RMS owner Bill Reilly's adjustable ones that have the heim joint where the bushing goes, they are VERY nice pieces and address the issue of binding front strut rod bushings, which was inherent in the OEM design. I've read a few people say the front end motion was really allowed...

    Green Bearings on Moser axles

I pulled the chunk and the thrust block is in there. I talked to Moser and they said either pull the spacer/thrust block out or trim the axles down. Why don't they cut them a little shorter to begin with? Seems like it would be better to avoid all these issues with people leaving the buttons and...

KYB gas-a-just shocks, are they a good choice?

Check out the Edelbrock shocks, a few guys on slantsix.org really like them and I'm going to be trying them soon, as soon as the car gets back together. http://tinyurl.com/ll4e8f KYBs are good, I have had them on several cars, they are a little stiff on the compression side though.

    Green Bearings on Moser axles

I'm with you on the taper and ball thing. They just don't feel right. If there is a spacer in the way, how much will the axle stick out? Do all carriers have the spacer? It's been a while since I looked at a chunk. thanks

    Green Bearings on Moser axles

I got Moser's stock cut BBP axle kit,... "for use with the later BBP brake plates/brakes" It's a 741 open, so it's got spiders and no spacer issue as with the sure grip. I guess I have to decide how tight is too tight, or consider having new adjustable type bearings/adjuster pressed on to the...

    Green Bearings on Moser axles

Does anyone running the Moser BBP axles with Green style bearings remember if upon install they had tight axle end play, and then loosened up after running? On a fresh install today, after I snugged up the axle flange nuts, the axle end play is 0+, (a feeling like it has another 1/4 turn on the...
