    k-frames???

    I capped my frame rails using pieces from Auto Rust Technicians and was very happy with the materials, the fit, and the results. The pieces are beefy. I did the front frame rails, the torsion bar mounts and the rear frame rails.

    sludge removal

    Definately, NO sand blasting! The sand will get everywhere and eventually destroy the engine. Try using kerosene. It's an excellent cleaner and cheap too. You can power wash it afterwards, but give it a coat of oil or WD-40 to prevent rust from forming.

    Start with the basics - you need air, fuel, and spark for a motor to run. Go through them one at a time and make sure you have all three. Next, look at the timing of the events. Does it cough, sputter, backfire? Did you change or adjust anything else?

    If the needle on the guage was bouncing around, it can only mean 1 thing; there is some air in the fuel line. This can happen if you ran out of gas or on a new installation. As in your case, it cures itself. Happened to me.
