    Alloy heads

Oh mate, you don't know the half of it. I have rack and pinion power steering and a 5 speed manual box to contend with. Exhaust manifold plumbing is "custom"

    Alloy heads

Yep. Aircon. I assume H51 is a standard option code in your neck of the woods too?

    Alloy heads

What matters to me is whether the heads are reliable, and offer at least equivalent performance to mild ported and milled heads that I have. It also matters that I can run the full ancillary system. My car has H51 option and I need the heads drilled and tapped on the front to mount the ancillaries.

    Alloy heads

That's my plan then. Heaps of Speedmaster stuff on ebay in Oz, so if they are not too **** out of the box then I'll do some more research.

    Alloy heads

Apologies guys, yes you do need to know more. Was a quick post late last night. Car, AP6, is '65 Valiant. Engine is SBM 318 with 0.40 over KB167 pistons, Comp XE268 cam. Still working on exhaust because car has a custom rack and pinion setup and T5 5 speed box. All that in a right hand drive...

    Alloy heads

Hi guys, I have been considering alloy heads for some decrease in weight over the front of my AP6. I am looking at doing some other things like alloy rad and fab up and alloy ancillary mount, but I want to know if the heads on the market are durable enough for some weekend track work. I...

Taper angle for upper BJ, late style.

That's actually the other way about. It's to install the big spindle to the small BJ. Mopar A-Body Upper Ball Joint Tapered Adapter

Taper angle for upper BJ, late style.

Hello guys, I have purchased a set of upper control arms from QA1, to suit the later big BJ. As I am in Australia, I don't have the later stub axles, so I am going to have to ream the tapered seat in the stub. Can someone tell me the angle of the taper of the BJ stud? I was thinking it was 7...

    Torsion bar/shock options

Cheers James, Yes, shocks are on the list too. Not sure if the budget will stretch to dual adjustable, have had Koni on my mind. I can source locally and are rebuildable locally too. Rob.

    Torsion bar/shock options

Hi James, thanks so much for chiming in. Can I please ask you some tech info? My car weighs just under 3100 pounds. Has a 318, with air and steer. If I want to pursue this as a hobby I will replace the iron heads with alloy, and also replace the heavy copper 3 core radiator with an alloy one. I...

    Torsion bar/shock options

Thanks. I've sent PST, Firm Feel, and Sway Away an email. Will see how this goes. Does anyone have a particularly good story from any of the above (or another) to share? Cheers, Rob.

    Torsion bar/shock options

Hey thanks for the reply. I have chatted to a local who has used 1.03" bars in his Aussie Charger, and I think after that chat it seems they are the size to go. Now it's up to the make I use! I have looked at Firm Feel, and also PST. the PST ones are a fair bit cheaper, so is there any real...

    Torsion bar/shock options

Yes mate, by track work I mean circuit/saloon racing. I'm looking at the sticky rubber too, and thanks for the heads up on Spax shocks, I'll Check them out. As for compatibility, for all intents and purposes an Aussie Val is an early A body car underneath. We got. 890 or. 870 torsion bars in...

    Torsion bar/shock options

Hey chaps, getting back into the hobby after a few years hiatus, and I am trying to catch up on the new trends, so please bear with me! I have an Aus '65 Valiant, 318, power steer, air etc. I am considering setting it up for some track work. What is the current trend for torsion bars? I am...

Holley 4160 Air Bleed and IFR tuning with O2 gauge. Help needed

Thanks guys, I've read the Burton machine article many times, as referred to in my original post. It's what got me motivated to do this. The car runs about 13 in the 40 mph range, and the mains don't come on until after 2000, so I assume my 65 mph is about the same. When the mains do come on...

Holley 4160 Air Bleed and IFR tuning with O2 gauge. Help needed

Hi everyone, I have a mildly tuned 318 in my '65 Valiant, and I'm wanting to dial in my AFR in the light cruise area better. Carb is a standard 600 vac secondary Holley list 80457. At this stage, the car is running very well, auto choke working properly and the car runs without any bog or...

    60-2 crank trigger wheel for a '71 318

I spotted those last night while trolling, very nice work! I'd say I'll go for a stock wheel had just modify it locally to fit the balancer. Since my car is H51 equipped, I'll probably get the pulley spacer turned to accept the wheel. Exchange rates and costs of freight on bespoke items are...

    60-2 crank trigger wheel for a '71 318

Thanks guys. I have my reasons for using a crank trigger. Looking to go mpi in the future, but attempting to resolve a trigger issue in the meantime. Cheers.

    60-2 crank trigger wheel for a '71 318

HI all from Down Under! I run a Holley HP EFI system on my 318, and I'm looking to get away from distributor trigger, and go crank. Is anyone aware of a 60-2 trigger wheel that is a direct bolt up to the standard SBM balancer? I'm hoping I can just order something from Rockauto, instead...

    Jet sizing question

That's the most elegant solution! Excellent idea! It doesn't help with my tall gearing either. I built the car as more of a grand tourer, than a suburban street warrior.

    Jet sizing question

Mate, that has to be the best carb tuning document I've read. Many thanks for your input. I'd actually wondered as I was typing my original post, whether or not i was still in the transition circuit, and you've comfirmed my suspicions. I have fitted this carby to get the car drivable while I...

    Jet sizing question

Why do you say it's different? It's the standard specs for the list #. It's a list 80457, model 4160. Thanks for the advice on 2 sizes, I didn't expect I would be doing it one size at a time, but I don't know. Cheers, Robert

    Jet sizing question

Hi everyone, I'm running the ubiquitous 600 sq bore vac Holley on my 318 in my Valiant. It's running the 64 primary jets it comes standard with, and the 65 PV. The the car is running well, but a tad rich at light cruise. My AFR gauge is telling me I'm in the 12.5-13 range at light cruise...

    '71 318 Auto Pilot Bushing O/D

Thanks for the offer, but I managed to linish down the bushing I was supplied to the correct diameter for the crank. It's now fitted and the motor is back in the car.
