15 inch wheels on early A body pictures

195/60-15 front 235/60-15 rear 15X6 Cragar wheels I've since lowered the rear about 4" at the rear bumper by using a lowering bracket on the front leaf springs. No clearance issues.

    Headers, TTI or Doug’s?

I have Doug's Headers on my '65 Dart Charger. yes, they are a tight fit on the driver's side and I had to ding one tube to clear my mini starter. Very tight clearance between the starter and torsion bar.

Did Early A-Bodies Have Light Package Option When Ordered New

It was part of the Dart Charger package from the factory, so I believe it was a factory option. Ulf, if you're following this thread, what say you?

Here's what the factory trunk light switch mounted on the driver's side trunk opening looks like:

    1965 Dodge Dart Charger convertible

Hi Ulf! The inside of the resonator was black, but probably from the exhaust from leaded gas. The outside was stainless, which I kept polished.

    1965 Dodge Dart Charger convertible

It was an issue when the cars were new. The cam tail on the cars created a low pressure area and exhaust gasses were sucked up around the bumper and the aluminum trim piece along the trunk (on the GTs) as well as on the trunk lid. On a long trip my '65 Dart GT bumper would be blue above the...

    1965 Dodge Dart Charger convertible

You may be right, Ulf but the hanger is the same on the '66 models without the notch and there is a bumper in the way, although the exhaust may have been attached before the bumper. I prefer to think there was a miscommunication between the engineering and design teams. It would have looked much...

    1965 Dodge Dart Charger convertible

I wonder why Chrysler placed the resonator notch in the rear valance of 273-4 Bbl Darts and Barracudas. The exhaust doesn't fit tightly into the notch. Maybe it was a miscalculation on the part of the designers and the exhaust extension was originally supposed to fit up into the notch?

Moog Offset K7103 installation question -'65 Barracuda

The new bushings provided by Moog are offshore junk and don't even have arrows. There is enough adjustment in the upper control arm eccentrics for the alignment specialist to get the alignment where it needs to be. Go with what you have.

    1965 DART GT 273 4BBL

Ulf, Chrysler replaced 5 spider gears in my original '65 Dart before the warranty ran out. It was a ridiculous and expensive decision to put a 7.25" diff in an A body with a 273-4bbl and 4-speed. I was running 13" cheater slicks and the diff couldn't handle the stress. Of course I removed the...

    1965 DART GT 273 4BBL

Did you read my post? The opposite was true in my personal experience in1966 at Chuck Hutton Dodge in Columbus, GA. Other zones may have had different experiences but not in the Atlanta zone.

    1965 DART GT 273 4BBL

Back in 1966 I offered to pay for a 8.75 limited slip diff in my 65 Dart 273-4 if my 5-50 warranty would be retained. Factory service rep said no. Any change from factory drivetrain equipment would void warranty. Seemed silly to the dealer service manager at Chuck Hutton Dodge in Columbus, GA...

Then isn't the safest solution to create red lenses with LED boards behind them? They would look very close to the original with the brightness of modern vehicles. Knee Knocker A/C

It was 1965 and not many cars, especially "compact cars" had air conditioning. 1965 was Chrysler's first attempt at installing factory air/heat/defrost systems in their compact line. At the time the units were quite compact in comparison to the aftermarket units available. So if you're expecting...

    Hooker,doug's,TTI?

As I commented above, I have 1/4" clearance with the driver's side torsion bar, so no problem there. A Mopar Performance starter is identical in fitment and size to a 90's Dakota starter I've been told, but just in case I've been advised wrongly, I'll pick one up for a trial fitment. I have the...

    Hooker,doug's,TTI?

My Doug's Headers weren't that hard to install on the 340 in my '65 Dart GT as some have commented on various forums. I had help from a buddy for the driver's side. Installing that side alone would be a challenge in my opinion. My problem is that the pipe that fits between the starter and the...
