I pulled the shaft and checked it in my vise it is good. I know bolts are in there me and a buddy put this together. he has done a few mopars and my 1st one. this is my street strip car, not the race one. I'm just new to mopars.

no grade 8 bolts. arp studed mains. with one cut down under pump.

yea I know I can tear it down just was trying to find problem without going that far. especially since it had 60-70 lbs from start up and a bunch of test drives. to a sudden loss of pressure. quess I will wait till winter! gonna go back to racing my fast chevy till then. i'm fed up with this one!

well that didn't fix it. slow to climb to 40lbs. rev it and pressure drops to 0. will idle at 30 hot . only thing I can figure is lifters coming out of hole as you rev. they are morel soild rollers, any one use these lifters with out tubing the block?

just got my mp pump. it is a melling. and got the gasket. gonna put it back together this weekend and see how it goes. installing oothb. and no porting to it. last one I did the mods.

so which brand pump to buy? mopar perf. melling or seald power? or are they all mellings in diff. boxes?

gonna pull intake next. but car runs fine don't think lifter broke but will check.

it lost pressure with the break in oil in it. was 10-30 vr-1 have also tried 20-50 same issue. checked dip stick with the 8qts and filter. its good.

napa/ wix. how many of you guys run a gasket between pump and main cap? I don't think that's it but may try it.

mech. and I tried another same thing.

why throw hv pump away? deep moroso pan with the pickup to match, yes checked it and pump is square to cap. also sealed it with some permatex. plugs are there, bearings look like new. gonna try another pump.

I just redone my 340 . and had great oil pressure 80 +lbs. new hv melling pump and deep pan. drove it a few times its ok . went for a cruise and its all over the place from 0 to 30 get it home change oil from break in stuff . now only have 40 to 45 lbs and when you raise rpms pressure goes...

i am rebuilding my 340 that has rpm heads and crane rockers they are a older set, i am going from a flat tappet to roller. do i need to upgrade the shafts to the better oilers, and i have the stock hold downs do i need to upgrade them to the better ones for alumn. as hughes recommends?

also found out front 2 windage tray studs hit the pan had to cut off 5/8 inch to clear!

i checked last nite wheel area is fine, band is like .050 from coming out of top on a couple holes, more on others.

does any body run the stock windge tray and a moroso pan? i had to cut it for pickup and i cant run the nut under tray beween cap and pan on arp studs or tray hits oil pan, should you run a tray with the moroso pan? it fits now but it is tight. pan no. 20710

building a +030 340 11.1 rpm heads, need a balancer whats everyone using? anyone try the fluidampers on ebay? Ideas?

are you talking about the oil band coming out of the block? or the slot where the wheel is mounted going up into the galley? i have morels that i am getting ready to install and need to check this.

well i milled the cap down and cut the stud yesterday, worked great! just takes a little time and work!

going through this on my 340. the nut and washer dont fit either! you guys mill the cap down for clearence also?

The welding was to make it a sq. flange opening. my porter said this would be a better intake than the vic , wants me to run a 2in spacer. carb is a 4150. i also have a 750 that flows 1036 gas carb i will try. 3300 is with me in it, car ran 11.70/11.80's with a mp 557 cam, same intake unported...

what are you guys talking about (rod inserts) notch for spray hole?

i bought a new set of main bearings for my 340. they are clevite p bearings and they have a full groove top and bottom. they just package 2 uppers in the box. no 1,2, and 4 mains. thrust and rear still std. will this cause any problems or will it give better oiling? called clevite and they say...
