    magnetic pickup

The specification is 0.000 to 0.003" sideplay (the service limit is 0.006"). The reluctor should have a gap of 0.008" (use a non-magnetic feeler gauge to check/adjust it). Bryan

    Another gas tank question

I've heard there are coatings for the inside of fuel tanks. I'd say that if you don't have any issues with condensation, there would be no reason to do that. But, I don't think it'd be a bad idea. There should be a pad between the tank and the underside of the floorpan. When I removed the...

    Balance question

You'll most definitely want to have the assembly balanced, because you can count on the aftermarket parts not weighing anywhere near the same as the factory pieces. Unless they've been lightened, they'll likely be significantly heavier than OEM. Having the assembly balanced will give you peace...

    finally got my exhaust on....

Hi Joe, FWIW, when I was using my '68 340-S in street & strip service, I had flanges installed on the outputs of the mufflers. The muffler hangers were connected to the front of the tailpipes. That setup allowed me to completely remove the muffler, crossover, and headpipe assembly. When...

    New Members

Hi Folks, I've posted a few times... thought I'd (finally) say hello too. With the exception of a motorcycle and my '76 Arrow, for nearly 30 years, I've owned strictly MoPars... four 340-S barracudas, and a '77 D200 pickup (400ci, Torqueflite, 2WD). One of the 340 cars was for parts only...

    Whats it worth ? 340

BTW, the 273 rockers require a little work in order to be used on 340/360 heads. Some grinding is needed to supply clearance for the larger diameter valve springs. Been there, done that... using Harland-Sharps, now. ;-) Bryan

    Whats it worth ? 340

Since they were produced for only a short time, any rebuildable/savagable 340 *shortblock* is like gold. I haven't been in the market for a while but I'd guess it's worth at least $1000. The 360 heads don't add all that much value. The Edelbrock LD340 manifold has been out of production for...

    Windage Tray

That the it increasing horsepower by decreasing drag would seem to be a misnomer. My longtime machinist, L. D. Smythe (a former SS/A and SS/B Superstock racer) has told me that in development, Chrysler found that windage trays helped only minimally when the clearance between the rotating...
