    67 Dart 270...Project Old School

The Dart was sold over the weekend to a member here, ATW. Super nice guy and I am hoping he will start a new thread so I can follow along as he takes over the build. Thanks FABO!

    2017 318 RACE !! .... please join the fun

In my case I swapped a A500 in place of a 904. I even had the A500 converted to non-lockup so I could reuse my 904 converter. In my case the only change to the car was the transmission itself. All the details are in this thread: performance 904 vs. A500 (42RH)

    2017 318 RACE !! .... please join the fun

You might want to know that an A500 is .3 - .4 seconds and 3-4 MPH slower then a 904. The deeper first gear does not makeup for all the internal drag inside the A500. Ask me how I know....

I did finally install the driver's side door seal. I started on the top at the front of the door. The first thing you notice is this bolt that sticks up right were you need to screw down the seal. They think of everything and include a slot in the seal to cover the bolt. You fit the slot...

Over The winter I have been troubleshooting a battery drain issue. The car would sit for roughly 10 days with the battery tender hooked up and suddenly the car would be discharging faster then tender could charge. I would have to disconnect the battery from the car and recharge it. I went...

    67 Dart 270...Project Old School

After 2 years I finally got around to installing my QuickFuel secondary metering block with provisions for changeable jets. I am running a 3310 Holley with vacuum secondaries and a fixed metering block on the secondary side. The goal was to lean out the carb a bit, but you don't know what jets...

    What's new in engine stands?

I bought one from harbor freight and went the other direction and sectioned out about 10" so with an engine attached it slides under the workbench for storage. I also use it in the back of my truck to transport engines. It gets the weight down low so you don't have to worry about it flopping...

Some 5.9 roller cam help from y'all please

I am trying to figure out what box you got your EQ heads out of that limit you to .470" lift. I ordered my EQ heads with springs installed for to go with my 224/230 .513" lift, 110 LSA, custom Comp Cam roller cam. I basically recreated the XE 268 in a roller cam. It has a nice idle at 800...

    Cam suggestions, please

I would look for something along the lines of 224/230 or 230/236 .050 numbers. I would still go for a 3000-3500 stall converter as long as it custom built (9.5") for the application. I would also look at upgrading the Performer intake to a Performer RPM to match the rest of your combination or...

Bitter taste of defeat! So much coolant in the oil pan.

You are not gonna like this...If you put a bolt that was too long in the front cover it will go through the open coolant passage and punch a hole/crack on the inside of the passage letting water go right into the crank case. It is actually a thin wall of metal separating the coolant from the...

    Online Horsepower Calculators

I am pretty sure the Wallace calculator is all based off data he collected for Pontiac race car. If you race a Pontiac with a similar drive train and similar hp/weight ratios that the data is based on, then the results are close. You plug in data for a flyweight Fox, it all falls apart...

    340 performance?

3.21 to 4.10 = .25 seconds in the 1/8, might be a bit more in the 1/4. A "good" torque converter could easily give .5 second in the 1/8.

    LA360 or Magnum?

You will need a different intake with the Magnum bolt pattern or you can re-drill the magnum heads for the LA intake bolt pattern.

    318 f.a.s.t class , oem stock appearing

Build your 318 with a 390 stroker, ported EQ heads, good roller cam, stock 318 intake and stock 318 2bbl unmodified. Put all your money into a NOS direct port fuel and fogger system plumbed on the bottom of the intake. When you want to go fast, click a toggle switch inside the car and the...

Cam & head upgrade 360 mag

Getting Magnum heads with the LA intake bolt pattern does open up the number of intake available. What you need to keep in mind is the port opening for LA and Magnum are different and will require port matching. You need to build for torque. 400+ft-LBS is gonna mean more then 400HP. I think...

    Hydraulic Roller Lifters w/LA Block?

The roller cam was originally destine to go into a crate 360. The crate 360 was stored with coolant in one cylinder that ate up the block. I decided to put the cam in my existing LA 360 and purchased the roller lifters to make it happen. Was it cheap...NO. Was it easy...YES. The roller...

    sb tuning problems

You may already have the primary butterflies opened up into the idle transfer slots and dumping way more fuel then you need at idle and low speeds. If this is indeed the case you need to crack open the secondaries 1/4 - 1/2 turn so that you can close down the primaries. You will need to...

    Hydraulic Roller Lifters w/LA Block?

I have run roller lifters in an LA block without issue. This is a 76-77 era 360 block and you will immediately see the difference in the casting around the lifters. I would say someone got handy with a grinder in your block. The roller cam in my block was from Competition Cams and was ground...

    67 Dart 270...Project Old School

It was originally ordered with a 108 LSA, but Competition Cams ground it on 110 by mistake. That mistake saved me $50 (they had to discount it to me) and the engine idles smoother because of it. We will always wonder how much HP/torque got left on the table due to that mistake. I attempted to...

    67 Dart 270...Project Old School

Actually this is my second attempt to get a Magnum under the hood. The last one was a fail due to water/coolant/gunk I found in a cylinder that had eaten up part of the cylinder wall. It was suppose to be a 40K mile crate motor that got pulled in favor of a big block. Before I tore off the...

    dyno #s seem low ?

Did they do any fine tuning on the engine? What did the air fuel ratio look like? If they were going to give you a couple of pulls I would have dialed in another 2 degrees of timing to see if the engine wanted more. Your HP number is OK, but your torque number seems low. I would expect the...

    67 Dart 270...Project Old School

I am in the process of tearing down a 360 Magnum engine I pulled out of a 2002 Dodge truck. The engine has 240K + miles on it, but internally looks pretty good. The plan is to re-ring and re-bearing the engine after some flex hone action in the cylinders. I then plan to move over the...

As the temperature start getting colder I am reminded I never finished the install of my new heater box. I got the heater box from Summit Racing and had previously fabbed up some tubes to mount the box. Having the retractable tubes has two advantages: 1) easy installation where you slide the...

    Finetuning questions - do I need a high-stall torque converter ?

This would be a better choice and shoot for around 3200 stall: http://www.edgeracingconverters.com/904-c-7_8/street-edge-converter-for-chrysler-904-transmissions-p-15.html Give Andre at Edge Racing a call. He loves to talk Mopars and I am sure he would have a recommendation for you.

    Non Mopar oil pressure oddity

I would hook up a mechanical gauge and check it cold. When you start it up if that gauge reads zero, then you have a problem.

    The hungry piston....

I will check the heads to see if there is any pieces of the valves missing. I just pulled the heads off and set them aside as I didn't have plans to re-use them. I didn't notice the damage until I cleaned off the tops of the pistons.
