I'm aware the so called A.C. pump has 6 blades while the non A.C. has 8. It would seem the 8 would move more water hence a cooler running engine. Seems like the air cars would need the better flowing unit. Also the Mopar bible recommends the A.C pump for a HP build, stating less drag. What gives?

Pulled the water pump off the 70 340 yesterday, and like I've seen on others there is some eroded spots on the timing chain cover directly behind where the impeller sits. Doesn't seem too bad but it got me thinking how thick the cover is in that area? If someone has a loose one and a big enough...

I don't know if this pitting will cause a leak or not. I hit the whole manifold with a file and there are a few slightly lower pits on one port, enough to feel. Any recommendations on a gasket that will seal it up? Or will any type of fill work? Or keep filing.
