    The 318 NON believers

The original poster didn't say that it was done in qualifing, and your mixing me up with the original poster. All I said was that on the qualifing run that I saw was that he dumped it before the 1,000 ft mark to run the 10.47 ET, as I was there watching. And thousands of others if they cared to...

    The 318 NON believers

Yep thats the car, on the qualifing run he lifted before the 1000 ft mark so not to bomb the index and to get where he wanted to be on the ladder. This was on Friday's qualifing. And the little engine fit in the car better than the original engine. This car has full interior and a stock frame...

Chuck, I believe that when we talked that I stated that we would use a 3310 holley carb and a XE284 cam from comp. or one similar from the manufacture of your choosing. Also a RPM manifold or something like it. I also think that I told you to go with a Mopar Perf. ign. system and a chrome box...

    Regular port Commando head clearances

Did they check retainer to guide clearance? Is the spring coil binding? Do the pistons have valve reliefs? Are the pushrods the right length? Have the heads been cut any, if so how much? What head gaskets were used, were they thinner if so how much? If I recall correctly the heads have...

    349 CI on the cheap

Chris, Funny you should ask as I just today put it back in and it's up and running. The other guys that want one are still getting $$$$ together, parts aren't cheap as everyone knows. But anyway I'm going to the track track this Sunday, so I'll have some better results hopefully, as long as...

    302 casting potential?

I agree with your velocity thing also as you can get too much and spearate the fuel from the air. But most of the time dyno numbers will give better ET's but there's too many factors that you have to take into account to get the engine HP numbers to work out. I've seen and I'm sure that you have...

    302 casting potential?

Dyno's are just that, not real world. I'm not here to argue one way or the other but I know for a fact that I have a 318 with 302 heads that makes over 500 HP with 1.78 and 1.60 valves, non roller and can and has run 87 pump gas and still run mid 11's for et's, 3330 lbs car. Larger valve's...

    Air bleeds

NO, Air bleeds are for Idle and power circuits and they change just those circuits. Richening or leaning the given circuit. The main jet controls both circuits. Air bleeds do just that control the air the jet controls the fuel.

    Advice

This is a common problem with eddy's and others as casting flaws and core shift causes this to happen. This generally happens when a porter is trying to match a ports cc's and or air flow. Nothing wrong with it as long as the repair was done correctly.

    heads

I agree that the W-5's and the larger port aluminum commandos are very good heads, and I would take a set right along with you. But the larger port commandos now are iron, and at last check with mopar the larger port P # cross' over to the 177 cc small port commando heads. And for $1,200.00 the...

    heads

The Edlebrock castings look like regular eddies but with the mopar logo on them. I saw a set like this at the Div. 2 race last weekend. The mopar casted heads look like a original production casting but with the old mopar logo on them as part of the casting, not stampped like the eddies.

Machining a block, how it´s going???

Oh, OK non factory CD. That answers it. So at that point the 340's and the 360's can be counted as the same piston. Then they aren't 340's or 360's, there custom pistons. They just share the same bore and CD.

    heads

I like Brodix but there pricey, but well worth the money. I agree that the new MP and some of the old stuff had plenty of issues but hey what can you expect when you don't do the castings your self. Now MP uses all Edlebrock heads for there Stage 6 and small block stuff in aluminum. I think that...

Machining a block, how it´s going???

Your correct in the bore size being the same as the 340 but there's a difference in the CD on the 2 different pistons. Even the low compression 340 pistons would need about .055 off the top of the piston to make it 0 deck in the 360. So how are they going to work in the stroker engine? Unless...

Machining a block, how it´s going???

When I get a block in for boring, I first clean it and then use a dial bore guage to check the taper and the difference in bore roundness. Then I make a decision on what the finish bore would end up at. I too like to have the pistons in hand before I bore a block, as they differ in size...

Do you have the cam specs.? This is what will make the difference in the valve to piston clearance. Centerlines, lift, and duration at .050.

Div. 2 Race at Silver Dollar Raceway

Went to Reynolds,Ga. yesterday for the Div. 2 Lucas Oil Race. I can say that I've never seen that track with so many race cars ever before. I had the chance to see some old friends and a chance to meet some new ones. While we were walking around in the morning (hoping that it wasn't going to...

    Indy/RHS X HEADS GASKET UPDATE

Louis, .020 should be fine without cutting the intake or the intake side of the heads, but I consider this to be the max without cutting the intake side of the heads or the manifold and still make it bolt up and work. At .030 I cut .030 off the intake side of the heads and this makes the heads...

    Indy/RHS X HEADS GASKET UPDATE

OK, Here is the stock magnum head and a 1008 Fel-Pro gasket. The issue looks to be the same with both the steel gasket that Louis has and the other Fel-Pro gasket he has. The 1008 is for a std LA engine and looks like the 519 gasket he has already except for the blue signature where the head and...

Louis, From what I see the Fel Pro looks to have the same problem but on the oppsite water port. If thats the Fel Pro with the blue sealing ring.
