Thanks, but I still don't really know what to replace it with. I mean is there a certain diameter cable or type that I need? No mention of it in my manual that I could find.

So yesterday as I went to start my car, the cable that runs from the pedal to through the firewall to the linkage at the carb snapped right near the pedal. I have read through my repair manual's section on that area, and searched a few parts websites but I haven't been able to find any details...

Where would I find the head casting numbers? The block casting numbers/date would be on the passenger or drive side of the block? Or is it the string of numbers on the front?

Ok, well since I do have an audible noise coming from the driver side valve cover, what would I do about those valves? Since I can't adjust them.

Yeah it's a 273, so I'm guessing either someone has gone through the work to give it hydraulic lifters, or it's a later year 273 that someone put in the car at some point? I don't know much about the 273s changes over years did they ever come out of the factory with non mechanical valves?

How could I identify my engine? Someone else has suggested before that my engine may not be the original 273 even and that it may be a later 318

So I pulled my valve covers to adjust the valves tonight, and found they were not adjustable. Was I wrong in assuming a 65 273 would be adjustable.

So I've read the various methods on HOW to adjust, but I read someone say that LA valves can't be adjusted on here, which sounds like total bullshit. I'm wondering what the valves for my 65 273 should be set at for intake and exhaust. Thanks guys.

yeah I'm with brad, I saw one on here sell to a member for like $100 or something. I also saw another member trying to sell the glass and noone needing it. He ended up having it for sale for a couple months before he finally got rid of it lol.
