    leaky bellhousing??

I just went thru a similar issue. Check the oil sender on the motor. I was having similar problem and it turned out the sender was seeping and the oil was getting in the bell housing. Very odd that it didn't wet the flywheel, but the problem was the sender. This was on a 440. Good luck Rich

    shifter adapter?

Hello, I bought one of those adapters thru a company and it was way way off. If you have welding equipment, I suggest you do it yourself. The one I bought was supposed to work with a Hurst box, bolt on shifter and E body pistol grip. It was too far forward and too far to the right. Actually...

[SOLD] black deluxe door panels 72 Demon

Hi All, I really would rather someone use these than me store them. The chrome knurls are age worn. A stripe in their place would make them real nice. They are off a 72 Demon. The less than perfect part of the rear panels are hidden by the back seat. These are definately presentable. I am in...

71 Dart - Fitting the floor shifter

Hello, I just did that a few months ago with a 72. Converted from auto to 4 speed. I had to do no work at all to the torsion bar cross member. Keep in mind the shifter mount angles forward. Yes, you must peel the sheet metal off ( the floor to install 4 speed hump), but no mods should be...

where can I get a repop fender tag?

Hello all, I am looking to have a rusty fender tag reporduced. It is in very poor shape, but with a lot of effort, it can be read. I was looking to find someone who reproduces them. GTS is not accepting any more orders for fender tags, and Trim Tags can not do Lynch Road or "A" coded assemby...

    heater bezel needed 72

Hello, even though it is sligtly different than what I currently have, I would be able to make the correct one by "splicing" the two. How do I go about buying the one marked number 1? Thank you Rich

    rally dash question

Hi all, I already searched but can not find my answer. I am in the process of restoring the dash on my 72 demon. It is non rally, but am considering converting. Wiring is not a concern for me, my question is what exactly must be cut on the standard dash to make it accept a rally? I do not have...

    6 pak run bad cold

hello and thanks again for the input and ideas. Mistake number one was putting on the carbs without even peeking inside. In NJ, we get blessed with oxygenated fuel from Oct to Apr. It has a 10% alcohol blend. That can cause further lean conditions. The carb came with 62 jets in it. The factory...

    6 pak run bad cold

Thanks for the ideas, the vacuum is rock steady. The carbs are brand new. I did not even open them to check jet size. when I adjust the left mixture screw, it responds, and at 3 turns out, it hits max rpm the right one is almost innefective. It is indoors, at approx 60 degrees. I am using NJ...

    6 pak run bad cold

Hi All, I have just started my 440-6 for the first time after a complete rebuild. It was an original 440-6, and I assembled it mostly to stock 70 specs. I removed the exhaust heat riser and used the block off valley pan. It will not idle until quite warm, I mean about 15 minutes of working the...

I would look on the very top of the heater box. It may be hidden by the glove box. That is how it is on a b body. Good luck

    Hurst pistol grip

Hello, I used 3 variations. First the straight up E body ( the shortest) and it felt too short and awkward. I then made a 2" extension for the E body handle ( this was made of plain steel stock ) and it made it nicer, but not perfect. Then I used the 71-74 B body non console and it was and is...

    Passon Performance 5-speed

I have e mailed Passon in regards to this on 11-15-11. I was told it will be released, but not for a little while. I am reluctant to say as I don't want to misquote him. For those who refuse to "cut" their torsion mount (like me) it will be worth the wait. If modifying the torsion mount is not a...

    competetion plus question

Hi all, I have a competetion plus shifter that came out of my B body. I just rebuilt it and am ready to install it. While it was a apart, I noticed there is no hole in the reverse "arm" for the neutral pin( to aid in adjusting the shift rods). The 1/2 and 3/4 both have the hole, but not R. I can...

    more pattern help (new pix)

can you describe what you see and what I should be looking for please. The first 2 pix are with a .032 shim, the second 2 are with .030. The og shim was .030. My first post was with a .027. I listed it as .029 but was incorrect. I re measured after taking apart. How much shim makes a noticable...

    more pattern help (new pix)

Hello again, I took the advice from this forum, can you please give opinions on these pattern. The one of the carrier out of the case is more shim. help reading ring gear pattern (pix)

I am not quite sure what you are saying. Are you saying the mesh is not deep enough (like it need to get closer to the part of ring that is bolted down) or is it too much front or back? I was under the impression that a high pattern ( towards very top of teeth) was set by less backlash? I am...

help reading ring gear pattern (pix)

Hello all, can someone with better knowlege point me in the right direction? This is an 8.75 (489), I have .029 shim in pinion ( currently using a checking bearing) the checking distance richmond calls for is 2.763 and that is exactly where I put it. Richmond said to use .008-.010 for backlash...
