I have both set ups. I don’t think there’s much accessibility difference between the two. Without the adapter I use a shorter filter.

413’s recommendation of Valvoline dex/merc at Walmart is spot on. Good fluid and it’s worked for me for years with no issues.

Just getting it out to drive a bit before having to store it for the winter. A wash, a fill up, some fuel stabilizer, and back in the shop under the cover until May.
