Some dyno testing you guys may want to follow on YouTube

Yeah, Pretty sure Terry is a Chinadian trying to survive here in the province of Onterrible. J.Rob

Absolutely agree--Its the testing methodology and S.O.P. that could undermine the results. J.Rob

That's the long way, did it that way about 5 times in 1995 and said to myself "There has to be a better way" --Get yourself some 12" vernier calipers and this can be done in about 5 minutes. Accurate to within .001". J.Rob

Bombastic as usual YR, This isn't about settling some internet debate once and for all. I think this is interesting and look forward to it--nothing more, nothing less. I just hope the dyno shop has a solid testing methodology and well maintained equipment. J.R.

I'm willing to bet you'll be here when the results are in and this thread that you started is 14 pages deep. Why wouldn't you want to maybe take a little info away from it if you could? J.Rob

Decking an LA is an absolute must. It is more important than a line hone (if youre not dealing with a spun bearing). Ma Mopar left the decks so absurdly tall and random and crooked it is a machining travesty. Skip the line hone and deck it to zero with these Mahle pistons/rings... These are the...

Not a Mopar but ...AMC 360 on the Dyno

This one was a fun project, haven't done an AMC in about 20years. Customer is a Jeep fanatic and wanted a good build with about 375hp. Customer supplied the cam and intake manifold and the core 360 of course. After doing some research on these and some measurements rotating assembly was decided...

    Some TrickFlow curiosity work

I see ZERO criticism in my post and ironically it WAS filled with valuable tech. Speaking of sharing tech-- I have shared tech (info) umm, literally hundreds if not thousands of times. Sorry for hurting your feelings. J.Rob P.S. I was "sharing" what I went through battling chatter and was...

    Some TrickFlow curiosity work

I don't have chatter problems when cutting but rigidity is of the utmost importance. The machine you are using and it's column design/fixturing and spindle size needs to be as short/stocky and as large as possible. Then there's the tooling and cutter geometry. You absolutely need carbide pilots...

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

I'll quote myself just to launch into a memory from when I was fifteen years old. I had just moved to eastern Ontario and made friends with an older kid that had a Olds Cutlass with a 265. Yep an actual 265 V8. Sounded great but wouldn't spin the tires on wet grass. His father was a talented...

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

Be my guest. Everyone is entitled to their opinion--which is what I was expressing. I'll state it again--If your 'teener is running fine then leave it alone and save for a 360 or... Money dumped into a 'teen trying to get it to make the power of a well built torquey 360 is a waste. J.Rob

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

They are both designed to be compressed --just one will "light off" or pre-ignite much easier which leads to serious negative work otherwise known as detonation. J.Rob

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

This is about as far as you can go--cam/compression wise with a 318 and still have reasonable power and driveability. J.Rob P.S. Forgot to add--IMO 318 Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

That's why I find this topic/discussion sickening. Isn't there a about a billion threads on re-camming a 318 or adding a 4bl intake and headers? A. It's perpetually being brought up. B. Any amount of money spent on a 318 in the name of power is a waste unless its going to be reused on the...

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

It's been said before probably a million times--Just get a 360. Building a 360 is an investment with great R.O.I. Bandaiding (not building) a 318 is throwing good money after bad IMO. If its science experiments your into just follow the Mission Impossible 318 build and enjoy some popcorn in...
