    46RH rebuild?

Thanks for the input. I haven't seen any chunks but when I dumped the pan out that I had the filter in, there was quite a bit of glitter. I know I'm going to abuse it, so I'm just going to get the rebuild kit. I already have a deep sump pan and a external cooler with a thermostat and fan...

    46RH rebuild?

Its been a while since I have posted, been working on other projects. Trying to get my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee going again and then I can finally start on my Barracuda. But anyways.... I was just going to install a Transgo reprogramming kit, the TFOD-HD2 using the gear command feature. When...

    Big Block Kickdown Linkage

Is there a difference between the A- body kickdown linkage and B and C bodies? My car is a 1968 Barracuda that I am putting a 400 in. The Barracuda has a floor shift auto and I have the linkage for that part. The transmission and the linkage I have is from a 1968 Chrysler Newport that had a...

Carter AFB Carb & Edelbrock Calibration Kits

I wanted to have some extra metering rods on hand to tune with once it get it running again.

Carter AFB Carb & Edelbrock Calibration Kits

Is there an Edelbrock calibration kit that will work with a Carter AFB? The carb is off of a 1965 Chrysler 413. Seems like Edelbrock has a few kits that are specific to certain Eddy carbs just not sure if any off them will work with the old Carters.

    A833 Selective Snap Rings

Ok so there are only 2 locations the selective snap rings or shims are used, one on the bearing on the input shaft and the other on the output shaft bearing?

    A833 Selective Snap Rings

When assembling the 833 the proper thickness selective snap ring or the shims that are available as a replacement for the snap rings are used on the input shaft after the bearing is pressed on and after the rear bearing is pressed on the mainshaft. Are they used anywhere else? The snap ring...

Bucket Seat Tracks '68-'69 vs '70-'72

    Thank you for checking that.

Bucket Seat Tracks '68-'69 vs '70-'72

Yea, If you could do that I would appreciate it. From what I found so far, the only reproduction seat tracks out there are for the '70-'72. So there has to be some kind of difference if they aren't advertising them for the earlier cars as well.

Bucket Seat Tracks '68-'69 vs '70-'72

I stumbled upon a thread that mentioned that the '68-'69 seat tracks are a little taller than the '70-'72 seat tracks but they didn't say by how much. Does anyone know what the actual height difference is? Thanks.

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

Got the driverside head off tonight, I don't think any coolant got into the bore when I pulled the head off. Cylinders 1 and 3 had some build up on the tops of the piston compared to the others that had an even amount of carbon on the pistons. There is less than 40 miles of actual driving on...

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

I don't think its oil, the carbon in the chamber is dry. The carbon in the picture I posted is wet because I soaked the bore in PB blaster so it wouldn't rust. How do I fix the valvetrain geometry if there is a problem? I tried getting the bushing out from the bottom, but the bushing got so...

    Random Parts Identification

I'm trying to sort some random parts that I have. I need some help figuring out what these parts are from. This first group of parts came with a 400 block I had bought: standoffs? The top one has a groove and a dimple in it. Throttle return springs? These parts might have come from a...

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

The carbon that is on the combustion chambers, piston and along the top of the bore was dry, not oily. Some antifreeze got in the bore when I pulled the head, I cleaned out the water with a rag then soaked the bores in PB blaster so the bores don't rust. Then I took a picture, that is why the...

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

I'm not talking about the black band around the bore that is carbon, where the rings don't ride. Look close at the picture right below the dark band there is a lighter band then the rest of the cylinder is slightly darker. Dark carbon band then light band then the rest of the cylinder.

Is This an Indicator of Detonation?

New rebuild 383, for some reason the intermediate shaft bushing got eatten and I can't get the bushing out with the engine in the vehicle, that's another story. Anyways I got the passenger side head off last night, and besides noticing that its running rich. I noticed a light band in the...

    440 Build Plan

OK thanks for the input. So I can go up 3 cam sizes and still should pull plenty of vacuum. I just don't want to put to big a cam in it and be unhappy. The roller cams aren't cheap. Do to hood clearance I don't think an Eddy RPM will fit. More than likely will have to use a low profile...

    440 Build Plan

I'm building a stroked 440. This is the plan I have so far: Bore: 4.350" Stroke: 4.15" Rods: 6.760" Block will be 0 decked, head gasket thickness will set quench. Pistons have a 23.7cc dish Trick Flow heads with a 78cc combustion chamber Head Gasket Cometic C5461-036 gasket bore: 4.380" gasket...

1.094 vs 0.990 Piston Pins- Weight Saving or Not?

Really, what's the big picture? I'm using a stock cast iron crankshaft for this build. I'm trying to reduce rotating weight. Trying to balance cost vs weight reduction. The original question was if there was any weight savings going to the Chevy size pin, there is but not a lot. Connecting...

1.094 vs 0.990 Piston Pins- Weight Saving or Not?

Thank you that is what I was looking for. Didn't think of going to a manufacturers website, was looking at Summit, and Mancini. Couldn't find what I wanted there. So the piston with the Chevy pin is slightly heavier at 563 grams. With the Mopar pin 555. So with the pins the Chevy size is...

1.094 vs 0.990 Piston Pins- Weight Saving or Not?

I don't care about stock stuff it's getting replaced regardless. What I am saying is if I have a set of custom pistons made with either the Mopar sized pin or the chevy sized pin they would be the same length and therefore the only thing that comes into play would be the diameter. And the...

1.094 vs 0.990 Piston Pins- Weight Saving or Not?

Your not taking into consideration bore size. What is the bore size of the "rat pin" and whats the bore size for the BBM pin. Bigger bore is going to have a longer pin typically. That is why I looked up pins that are the same length just the different diameters. Cause If I have piston made...

1.094 vs 0.990 Piston Pins- Weight Saving or Not?

You can get rods with Mopar journals and either Mopar size or Chevy sized pins. Molnar had the bobweight listed for their cranks. Both cranks are the same stroke one had a Mopar rod journal size the other had a chevy rod journal size. The bobweight listed for both those cranks was the same...

1.094 vs 0.990 Piston Pins- Weight Saving or Not?

I was able to find some weights on rods and piston pins but not the piston. I think the weight savings is very little, if any. Molnar Connecting Rods H-beams -6.760" length -Big End Bore: 2.500” -Big End Width: 1.017” -Pin End Width: 1.140” -Bolt: 7/16 ARP2000 -Pin= -1.094"= 852 -0.990"= 849...

1.094 vs 0.990 Piston Pins- Weight Saving or Not?

Is there actually a weight savings when switching to the smaller Chevy size pins when all is said and done? I had some custom pistons made about 15 years ago or so and I was considering switching over to the smaller pin size, the representative of the manufacture said that it was pretty much...
