Hobart Handler 140 mig, it is affordable and works great from sheet metal to 3/16 off-road bumpers. Also, have a Miller Thunderbolt when stick is preferred option.

Im building a 3.79 now >4.00 and airflow becomes limiting factor for most reasonable / feasible builds. Nothing wrong with a well built 3.58 or 3.79 stroke 340 for most people. @PROSTOCKTOM on here is a good choice for crankshafts and rods.

Rod angle can get pretty steep at 4.250 and create side loading issues.

R154 5 speed would be a fun option if you can find one.
