1964 Valiant Signet V8 For Sale Bellevue, WA Price: 3500OBO Payment Methods Accepted: Cash. Crazy I know. If we're gonna ship the car we'll work something out, if you're local tho, I want cash. :) So yeah, few months back I picked up a Valiant Signet. Wanted something old, fun and cool...

Can a garage be too big?

I beg to differ. Yes they can. Last place I lived I had a 3000sqft garage. Whenever I needed to work on a car there was no room! I have more room to work in my current 2-car than I did in that 15 car. Way more CRAP in the old one, but no more usable space. It's a trap.

Window regulator came apart yesterday on me...

Yeah it would. Problem is I don't know what's good out there. I don't trust Haynes/Chilton for nothin'... and i don't think mopar still makes a full Factory Service Manual like i have for my Neon, do they? Regardless, i had the door panel off but couldn't see anything before. When I didn't...

Window regulator came apart yesterday on me...

how do I reassemble? I can't see crap in the door, would be really useful if someone here has a diagram of how it should work. I've seen pics online from ebay auctions of the part, but can't seem to make it make sense with the parts i've seen in the bottom of my door. Anyone have a shop manual...

    Switched 12v wire color?

And it's only hot when the key is on?! Awesome! Thank you!

    Switched 12v wire color?

Been googling, all I keep finding is "just use a multimeter and check". Before I start poking holes in my insulation, and doing contortions with my back under the dash, I'd rather just ask. Need switched 12v that works anytime the car is running, doesn't need to be hot while cranking. Need it...

Awh man! I let all the smoke out of the wires!

Whooops. Ya get used to working on new metric, plastic cars... and you forget that maybe, just maybe you should disconnect the battery before you deal with the ignition switch. :) Went to pull the gauges to see why the light for my speedo wasn't working. Apparently there's no shroud around...

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

OK, so yeah, just for the next person in my boat, here's how and where to go! Needed: Belts (duh!) 4 1.5" long 7/16th fine thread bolts 4 lock washers. Awl long-nosed pliers. Ratchet with 5/8ths socket. 1: We'll start on the driver's sill; take your awl and aim about 5/8ths of the...

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

W00! Success! 1: Didn't have to pull the seats. 2: Found a reasonable picture to determine where the tunnel bolts were, and took pictures when I was done. I'll update the thread with a how-to setup here when i upload the pictures. :) Wasn't tough, finding where to cut was the hardest part...

    Gauge light bulb spec?

Awesome! I looked for 57s tonight at the parts store... O'Reillys doesn't stock them, apparently. Oh well. As an aside, learned a valuable lesson tonight. When you're used to plastic dashboards you forget that metal dashboards and always-on ignition switches do not mix. I let quite a bit of...

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

Thanks, guys! About to go out and get to work. Didn't realize I was gonna have to pull the seats, but such is life, I guess. I'm just excited to finally get to use some of my SAE tools, all my cars have been metric until now! :)

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

I know where, I just wasn't sure of pitch. Covered my bases by buying coarse and fine. I'll get it figured out.

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

Nah, you guys were right before. I have all 4 belts. They were in a box, in the backseat. I need to install many belts, but it was the front ones I was wondering about at least to start. :)

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

I figured there was a higher tech route than that, but guess I'll give it a shot tonight. Anyone know if I need to buy 7/16ths coarse or fine pitch? Sounds like my evening plan is now set in stone, gym, hardware store, garage! Sleep is for the weak! :)

Is this temp normal on the gauge?

Accurate, sure, but sitting in a box in my garage with a bunch of oil pressure gauges, EGT gauges, and wideband o2 sensors? Not so much. :) I'll go track down a mechanical gauge. :)

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

Yeah i know they bolt in from the top, but the only how-to I saw said "Go in from the bottom and poke up through the carpet to sight where they go" and I was trying to avoid that. If the outers are in the rockers, not the floorboards, I'll get those sighted first. :) Thanks! I'm working on a...

    Gauge light bulb spec?

Thanks guys. From the pic there, the bulb looks like the exact same thing that's in my Neon dash! Appreciate the info.

Is this temp normal on the gauge?

OK. Time to raid the stash for an electric autometer, i guess. Thanks.

Installing lap belts w/o going under the car?

So i just bought my car, and it came with uninstalled lap belts in a bag in the backseat. Time to put them in. They're some colormatched retractable belts from a hotrod shop somewhere, so i don't have factory hardware. It's the middle of January, it's cold, wet, and I don't feel like jacking...

Is this temp normal on the gauge?

It runs pretty damned good, I don't feel like randomly tearing into things before i know they're broken for certain. ;) Temp gauge sits here when the car is warmed up. Seems low, but is it normal? The green line is where my needle sits.

Fan knob doesn't push back into dash? how to fix?

1964 Valiant, just got it, still learnin'. First thing I learned? The Fan/Heater knob is out. Won't go back in to the level of the other knobs. How do I R&R it to fix it, or is there an easy reset procedure that doesn't require removal? Pushing on it does nothing, it twists and operates...

    Gauge light bulb spec?

Hey all, Quick question... Speedo light doesn't work. Worked once, doesn't come on anymore. All the other gauge and shifter lights work. I got the original owners manual with the car (64 Valiant) and I just spent some time reading it. It specs all the instrument cluster lights as type 57...

Hey all! This is my latest automotive adventure!

Oh no doubt, some POR 15 is definately in the plans! I figured I'd get at it from the backside of the quarter, and hope I can slow it down enough without ruining the beautiful patina the car has by painting over only one side of it for now. It's such a change for me, i'm lovin' it. Now it's...

Hey all! This is my latest automotive adventure!

Thanks for the welcome. I may end up lookin' you up at some point! I actually bought the car down in your neck of the woods. Bought it from a guy in Sumner. Since I forgot to mention it above, I guess I should call out some specs, huh? It's a 273 car with a pushbutton, previous owner dumped...

Hey all! This is my latest automotive adventure!

Hi all! Yesterday I stepped off into what for me was the great unknown. The land of torsion bars, leaf springs, and carburetors. I was googling for something akin to "how to add seatbelts so I don't DIE IN A HORRIBLE MESS!" when I found a link to here. Figured i'd better register, introduce...
