Thermal Barrier - Sound Deadener - Lizard Skin

If you go with one of the 'mat' products (ie: not spray-on), I'd recommend going with one of the butyl-based products rather than asphaltic-based. The asphaltic-based stuff is more prone to melting/detachment due to high temps, not to mention the increased 'stank' factor. You'll find that the...

    Manifold and header Gasket question!

I heard many recommendations for the Remflex gasket. It's a little pricier than the standard gaskets, but I bit the bullet anyway for my super six upgrade. It really is a pretty nice little piece. They are thicker than standard but crush nicely so they are a little more forgiving if your...

    Installed mini starter...very pleased

Another thumbs-up for the mini starter upgrade. Turns that engine over so damn quickly - it still catches me by surprise after being so used to having to hold the key in the 'start' position for a few seconds with the old one. Easy access/installation and the damn thing weighs a fraction of...

    Vacuum pressure on the 170

If it's not the blinker fluid then I'm stumped! Others more well-versed than I will surely chime in.

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there were a few different places I found recommendations for those particular plugs. Both here and .org I'd have to start digging around to find them. As for the BR, it's got two terminals. A blue & blue/white in a male plug on one terminal and dk blue & brown in a male...

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

The plugs were the NGK ZFR5N with washers removed. I understand these to be a preferred plug for the slant. Based on my recent findings with the timing I'm thinking they were fouled due to the timing being off. Running retarded would also foul them, correct? Yes, I believe the Pertronix can...

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

One of the first things I looked at. Nice healthy stream (on both carbs) with a nice Pssshht! Ok so I was out running around. Managed to pick up another timing light. Had a few minutes here to check the timing. Lo and behold, timing was at 8-degrees retarded. #-o Was running out of time again...

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

Ok, a little more to report. Due to time constraints and test equipment failure (:wack:) I did not get to look at as many things as I wanted. Things I did get to: Wet float check: Measured right at 27/32, which should be correct according to the FSM I have. Plug examination: This one was...

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

I thought about the coil/temp thing too but swapped in brand new coil with no change. Appreciate all the feedback. Due to work I won't have much chance to fool around with it for a couple days so I was just trying to line up a plan of attack and prioritize a list of things to look at.

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

I could stand to look at the wires, certainly. I'll even see if I can get my multimeter working again and test the resistance of each of them. Could a bad wire cause a stumble at a particular throttle opening though? As I mentioned in my original post it will eventually make it through the...

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

Good point . I didn't address ignition beyond the coil. Found that the PO had removed the points and installed a Pertronix I. Swapped in new NGK's when I had done the valve adjustment. Agreed about the compression and plugs. As I mentioned above, I'm hoping to look at that this weekend. I also...

    Slant stumbling on acceleration

Ok this one's starting to get to me. Hang on, this will be a lengthy run-down: I must preface this with the fact that my knowledge of the history of the PO's work (or lack thereof) on this car is basically nil. So a while back I start noticing a very 'slight' stumble on acceleration. Nothing...

    Intake and Exhaust Manifold Cost

http://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/locations/LKQ_Pick_Your_Part_-_Chula_Vista-264/ What do you know - half price sale coming up in a couple weeks. I'd use their inventory listing as a guide only. Sometimes you just have to go down there, walk around and see what's there. They will have...

    Intake and Exhaust Manifold Cost

There are a handful of junkyards here in sd. Generally a few slants sitting around. They also have half price sales every so often. A little elbow grease and you could get it pretty cheap.

    [SOLD] Upper Control Arms 73+

Pulled from a california junkyard Dart (73 or 74 I think) with the original intent of switching ball joint patterns. I switched direction so here they are. Gave them a Simple Green bath to get off the 1/4" of grime covering them. They'd need to be finished off and by the looks of it probably...

    [SOLD] Thermoquad 9245S

I have a thermoquad 9245S. Pulled from a Volare but I believe these may have originally come on trucks. I never ran it so it should be considered for a rebuild. Located in San Diego. 45$ shipped USPS to lower 48.

    [SOLD] 46re transmission pan (stock)

Stock transmission pan for a 46re transmission (Dakota). I updated mine to a deeper pan. This one is in good shape. Straight edges - I never had a leak with it. I even installed a drain plug kit to make fluid changes easier! 30$ shipped USPS to lower 48. Located in San Diego.

Have a brand new Cloyes tensioner. I had plans on using this when I replaced my timing chain in my Dakota's 5.9, but long story short it never happened! I need space in my garage so I'm going to sell it. Part #9-5387. $35 shipped usps to lower 48. Edit: Threat title says 5.9, but my...

    another Scarebird question

Why would Scarebird keep you from aftermarket wheels? Most aftermarkets are at least 15", which should fit Scarebird. I think there are even some guys with 14" Cragars and stock wheels on them. Edit: I see you are looking at keystone classics. I couldn't say if they'd fit or not.

Gunmetal 72 Dart - Cool cruiser build (no... refurb!)

What a great looking Dart. You weren't kidding about the interior! I also like your progression from 'rebuild' to 'refurbish'. Don't get me wrong: I truly admire the hard work and skill put into a lot of the complete tear-downs on this site, but sometimes it's fun to just get in the seat and...

    Lingering fuel smell in oil

Thanks for the input guys. Got a few more things to look at, it appears. Drove it into work today, taking the 'long' route so she could get up to temp. Had a few minutes so I pulled the PCV. Clean (had replaced it not long ago) with good suction. Shut her down and peeked into the carb to see...
