**73 Scamp Mini Pro-Street Engine Swap**

Hey Louis, I have a fitting supplier here in the UK that i get most of my stuff from, but I have used Sweet Performance in Placentia CA for some of the more unusual adapters etc. I'm pretty sure I got them in under a week so I would think they'd get to you one heck of a lot quicker!

What year is this chrysler small block HM318R36502350

Block casting numbers alone will not give you a definitive year. I have ablock which is 68-72. The water pumps from '68-'70 and '71 on differ according to outlet location and in this case material. If you have a stock water pump on there now, which side is the outlet? And is it iron or aluminum?

Why am I drawn to the aluminum??

You're right, these heads were originally marketed as RHS/Indy iron heads but for reasons unknown (to me at least) RHS no longer sell them. They're still available through Indy though.

Need best method for no leaks at rearmain and oil pan

That is very good to hear. I have a fabricated aluminum pan from Charlie's Oil Pans and its not designed to accept gaskets. So I did exactly as above. Fingers crossed it works on first fire-up as the bolts are a PITA to get to (they're inside the pan).

    balancer recomendations

If you can bear to spring a little more, take a look at 'blem' balancers from ATI. I picked up an ATI Super Damper direct from ATI for $200. They sell some of them on ebay so I just messaged them about another piece, asking for a couple of different part no.s. They tracked one down in under a...

    408/360 question

My cast 4" Scat crank with I-beams and Icon flat tops balanced internally with no heavy metal. This is a 318/390 so maybe that swung it for me.

    Okay, you're overly sceptical.

    How much would I lose?

No, I got what he was saying :toothy8:. I was just pointing out that the terminology itself was wrong. Nothing wrong with the modification, particularly if you're running a carb a little on the small side.

    How much would I lose?

I'm going to sound like a pompous *** here, but milling the divider does not make it a single plane. The name dual plane comes from the over n under runner arrangement not the centre divider.

88-91 (92?) 360 blocks "hydr liftr" vice retro fitting older LA blocks

Honestly, its not a big deal. I retro fitted Hughes Engines lifters into a '68ish block last year. The retro fit lifters use a link bar between pairs of lifters, rather than a spider plate in the valley to prevent the lifters from rotating. Although the link bars are shaped to clear the bumps in...

    Drag Week Unlimited Duster

Not exactly in your backyard but there's the Mopar Euronats at Santa Pod 26th-28th July. It's grown to be a pretty big deal over the years. Racing pretty much non-stop too.

    408 Build Thread

Brian (IMM Engines) uses the 26918 set-up on his Indy iron heads I think. If anyone knows, it would be him.

I believe the Comp 26918s to be the most commonly used beehives with cams around that size.

    Indy 360-3R intake

I had been toying with the idea of picking up a Victor 340 to try against my RPM intake when my 390 stroker goes on the dyno. We don't exactly trip over them all the time here in the UK and I have the opportunity now to buy an Indy 360-3R rectangle port intake from a racer I know. Its only 20...

    indy x heads...header question

I spoke to Brian at IMM Engines about this a while back. Its due to the exhaust ports being further apart than on factory LA heads. He tried porting the header flanges on a customers' set of heads to eliminate the step and ran them against a set of TTI's. The TTIs still made more power. A little...

    390 stroker build

Will do. At 2300lbs with aluminum seats and no carpets, radio etc. its more strip than street but its got a title, mufflers and treads so I'll do as much street driving as I dare.

    390 stroker build

Okay, probably not too relevant as I threw a little more $$$ at it. Mine has the Scat cast crank, I-beams and Icon forged flat tops, clevite bearings and total seal rings, internally balanced with NO mallory metal needed. A stock oil pump with the pick up relocated to the oil pump cover to suit...

273 commano on the dyno wooooow

All dyno results are dependant upon atmospheric conditions, Correction factors are used to standardise the results at a set air temperature, altitude etc. This is my local engine builder. He's not a Mopar guy as such, but that 273 had some good tricks in it. He also did a 500 horse 349...

need some help with selecting cylinder head Mopar 408

Its not really static compression you need to worry about. As Rumblefish said, 11:1 is possible with the fuel you intend to use. Also, a good closed chamber design will generally tolerate more compression than an open chamber when using flat top pistons, regardless of cylinder head material.

340 stroker kit w/cast crank good or bad?

If it has Eagle rods theres a good chance they're swinging on an Eagle crank. I wouldn't use Eagle I-beam rods regardless of the crank manufacturer.

dimensions of a small block balancer

I think Mancini do a couple of different aluminum crank pulleys. I think they give the dimension from the mounting face to the centre of the groove in the description. I got an ultra shallow single groove one as my alternator is mounted from my motorplate and I have an electric water pump...

need some help with selecting cylinder head Mopar 408

Surprised nobody else caught this, but if you do go Eddy, then don't get the 340 version. And Moper is spot on about the octane ratings over here, our premium 98 octane is about the same as your 93.

I think he just got confused, thinking that the closed chamber LAs needed SBC rockers.

    Edelbrock Head Rockers?

The advice given on your other thread was sound. You want the closed chamber LA heads. They are NOT the Magnum heads you refer to above. They're a different animal. Its just that they have a closed chamber too...
