Appreciate some input on spark plug reading

It takes more heat to gas the street fuel that's why you get white plugs because its LEAN at time off ignition. The OP should try some Avgas and see how that performs. Or try a smaller carb to increase...

Appreciate some input on spark plug reading

I would first try an NGK plug and a 750 DP and see if it picks up the top end.

Low speed torque and driveability ?

Isn't that the problem? As you progress on your journey and you look for answers and the previous sources cannot provide you need to look elsewhere. There is a very well know Chinese saying: "When the student is ready the master will appear."

"In the case of our drag car we use VP fuels C14+ We have tried others with different distillation and oxygenation etc but they create other tuning issues. Pop pop on exhaust side

Buy a Crane Hi-6 and PS92 coil and never look back. Swapped out the MSD for Crane and instantly it idled and ran better

    Pop pop on exhaust side

Yep, I have seen that exact same thing with a pulley change on the alternator not allowing the CDI to fire correctly causing what can be misinterpreted as a rich condition. Half a volt was all it took to make it change the burn considerably.

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

That's interesting. I was just looking at 3.5 litre BMW coupe from the late 1970's or early 80's yesterday but it was injected. You wouldn't happen to know if that Solex is a divorced Idle design?
