    273 Commando with roller camshaft

Thanks 66fs, l’d prefer a flat tappet solid stick but there’s been a spate of cam & lifter failures in the past few years. I’ve never wiped a cam before, and would prefer it to stay that way. Ideally l’d like to build a mild 300 hp 273 that runs nice on the street with a 4-speed and 3.23 gears.

Thanks JD, interesting build. Food for thought.

    273 Commando with roller camshaft

Has anyone built a 273 Commando or other mild 273 mill, with either a hydraulic or solid roller stick? Is there any real benefit to a roller stick in such a small V8? Hypothetical A Body 273 build to base this discussion on: 273 block bored 0.030" with a zero-deck flat-top piston (9.5:1 SCR)...

    Small Block flywheel and clutch

From past experience, I've dealt with Brewers Performance with all my A833 needs. Dan Brewer in particular answers all my emails with great information, they have great knowledge and good products. I live in Melbourne Australia and have a 67 Formula S 273 Commando 4-speed car, the people at...

67 Barracuda - Front End Kit

I have a 67 Barracuda Formula S with Kelsey Hayes front disk brakes. Can I get some feedback on the best complete front-end kit for this A Body. I prefer to stay with an OEM type rubber bush kit, not poly stuff. What do you guys think of this complete kit from eBay? Front End Suspension...

Lakewood Aluminum Replacement Bellhousing for Small Block Mopar

Thanks Dan, wow that's a huge eye-opener for all of us. I've now managed to find a good 734 10.5" bellhousing locally and will be placing an order this afternoon to Brewer's Performance for a number of other items I need. In the past I've order a heap of stuff from you guys, everything always...

Lakewood Aluminum Replacement Bellhousing for Small Block Mopar

Okay, I've done a little digging and spotted that the bell-crank stud-ball mounting point on the Lakewood bellhousing uses the later '72-'74 A Body mounting arrangement, while the '67 mounting point on my existing bellhousing uses the '67-'71 arrangement. Please refer to images below. I want to...

Professor Fate, the Lakewood Bellhousing I listed is a kit that comes with a dust cover, folk pivot, rubber boot etc.

Lakewood Aluminum Replacement Bellhousing for Small Block Mopar

I have a 67 Barracuda with a 273 Commando and 4 speed. The existing clutch arrangement for the 273 is a 9.5" clutch with 9.5" 122 tooth flywheel. I'm looking to mothball the 273 and replace with a 'stock' looking iron headed 416. I need to go to the larger 10.5" clutch which requires a 10.5"...

    Brewer's Performance - RAM-98375HD CLUTCH PACKAGE FOR 9.5" 273 V8 BELLHOUSING APPLICATIONS

    Brewer's Performance - RAM-98375HD CLUTCH PACKAGE FOR 9.5" 273 V8 BELLHOUSING APPLICATIONS

Thanks 340demon72, I'm beginning to agree with you. Does anyone have part numbers or a description of exactly what I need to swap over to a 10.5" clutch arrangement that will handle 450-500hp?

    Brewer's Performance - RAM-98375HD CLUTCH PACKAGE FOR 9.5" 273 V8 BELLHOUSING APPLICATIONS

I have a 67 Barracuda with a 273 Commando & 4-speed. It has the 9.5" bellhousing and clutch at the moment. I'm building a 340/416 with mildly ported J heads that I intend to paint Chrysler red with 273 Commando valve covers and air-cleaner etc. The motor should make around 420hp and 480tq, the...

Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

Yeah I agree. I think a more suitable solid flat tappet stick is what's needed.

Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

Thanks to all for your replies to my initial post. Seems to be a divisive topic, some have used these solid roller lifters in street driven cars with good results, others warn of catastrophic failure. Hmmmm, I have a new Comp XE274H hyd stick in the stash that I could use. I'd like to make 420hp...

Comp Cams 828-16 Solid Roller Lifters

I'm sure this may have been covered before, however l'd like to hear from people with direct experience. I'm building a 340/416 with mildly ported iron J heads, 9.5:1 static comp, Weiand Stealth intake, Carter Comp Series 750 carb, Doug's 1-5/8 long tube headers. The car's a 67 Barracuda with 4...

David Vizard bench flows a BBD 2bbl

318WR, that's a great idea. I'm sure I heard Uncle Tony saying the same thing in one of his earlier posts, dyno the 2BBL 318 and then install intake, 4BBL, and headers...

David Vizard bench flows a BBD 2bbl

When DV mentions 'stroking' the 318 crank I think he's only trying to get the factory piston to zero deck height, that's it (0.030"-0.080"). So, in my mind he'll be using OEM pistons and probably selecting the lightest ones he can find from a pile of shitty cast 318 OEM pistons. DV's difficult...

1989-82 360 LA Specs - Bolt on modifications

Thanks to everyone who posted a reply, great information. How about some real-world experience with these mills, hydraulic roller cam recommendations, what is the advertised static comp with one of these 360's? Do 308 heads with a little tweaking support 400HP? Keep the great information coming...

1989-82 360 LA Specs - Bolt on modifications

Hi folks, can anyone provide some specs regarding the last of the LA 360's manufactured between 1989-92. Looking to buy what appears to be a good running '89-92 360 motor, want to use a Weiand 8022, an AVS2 650, 1-5/8" long tube headers and replace the OEM hyd roller with something else. Any...

    Mission Impossible 318

I think maybe some of you guys might be missing the point here. Uncle Tony's picked a 2BBL 318 LA for this project because in stock form it's a vanilla motor and doesn't make much power. Real Hot Rodding, in my mind at least, is about working on what you have available and doing the best you...

Doug's Headers Hi Temp Black Coating Question

aaronk785, that's my biggest concern also. I have a set of Flowtech headers that I haven't installed yet, they look good but will hang down too low on the drivers side. What did you use to paint the raw headers? Is the finish any good?
