Ideas on home made center console

I made one out of plywood years ago to hold my aftermarket stereo... used cardboard templates to get the shapes right, then transferred to 1/2" ply. Ended up disconnecting the heater/diffuser under the dash, and using the two bolts/studs to attach the "console" to the underside of the dash that...

Best kit for total rear drum brake resto

I bought the PST kit several years ago (for all 4 corners) and was able to muddle my way through. Do note that my kit did not come with one of the correct springs (I don't recall which one, but it's one of the lower springs). One hook end was 90* out of phase, so to speak, and wouldn't properly...

    Need brake line installation ideas

For me it's the 300+ mile commute whenever I want to work on it... but hey, the storage fees can't be beat!

    8 3/4 REAR - WHAT size brakes? 9" or 10-11"

Thanks for doing some preliminary work for me, Big B! I'm getting myself psyched up to redo all my brakes in another few weeks, so seeing what hoops you had to jump through is good homework. Can't wait for some fresh pedal feel of my own...

heater control parts, anybody make these

Would this be the complete heater control, including where the vacuum tubes connect? If it'll fit in a '67 fastback, you have my attention!

    Rallye Dash Resto

Has anyone had success reattaching the corner of their dash trim near the glovebox, the piece that seems to break off for all of us? (Thanks for the help Dad, couldn't have done it without you!) I realize I can send my dash out to have one of several places do the surgery, but I'm just...

    Steering Wheel

I've been looking for a wood grain 3-spoke for several years.... I like the look of that Nardi! That gets me thinking... might be time to hit up the local junk yards and see what's laying around.

    Garage spot available?

I'll check back in here every few weeks, unless someone PMs me. A guy can hope, right? *fingers crossed!*

    Maryland here......

I like the possibilities of that 383, Mitch! Thanks for the suggestions. Do any of you participate in any of the weekly/monthly cruise-ins around here? I know there's one outside of DC, and another north of Baltimore. Haven't been to either one yet.

    Garage spot available?

Thanks for the offer, ply30! Virginia is still closer than Vermont, where the car currently is kept. But it doesn't make going for a weekend cruise much easier. Anybody else out there?

    Garage spot available?

Hi all, I'm looking for a garage space in the greater Baltimore area for my '67 fastback. My current garage is sized for a Model T, and I do not feel at all confident parking out on the street in "Charm City" (what charm, too). :hmph: I can't afford what the self-storage places are asking...

    Maryland here......

I'll resurrect this one (again!) now that I'm in Baltimore. Still looking for a garage space for my '67 fastback. I'll post a specific request in another thread, but regardless would love to meet up with any of you in the area. Any upcoming shows that shouldn't be missed? It's usually more fun...

    67 reverse lenses?

Rocky, you figured it out correctly! Didn't think I needed to specify, but I can see how there might be some confusion. Also, it looks like Layson's is the way to go. Too bad they're not glass, but maybe I can find a place nearby to fab some up for me. Thanks for the help, folks!

    273 Build

Just finished reading through this thread - very impressive! I recently (okay, 7 years ago now) had my 273 rebuilt, although I can't claim to have nearly as much as you. That cam sounds impressive - I may need to look into changing mine... Thanks for the words, photos, and inspiration!

If you manage to make this set up work, please let us know the results! I have a similar problem with my non-Commando 273.

    Front suspension woes

Unfortunately, I ran out of time. The car is at my folks' place, a 10 hour commute away... thanks to all for the helpful advice. The proper order of operations is one thing the Service Manual is only sort-of helpful with. Replacing all of the front suspension bushings, for instance! Oh well -...

    67 reverse lenses?

Judging by the lack of inventory on ePay, ear-One not showing anything, and limited (current) search results, I'm guessing that there are currently no companies making the clear back-up lenses for '67s? :wack: Please correct me and direct me if I'm wrong! On a related note, is anyone aware of...

    Front suspension woes

Well, things went from bad to worse. Got one cam bolt off, peeked in behind the shock and saw some metallic swiss cheese. Beyond my capabilities, so it's off to the frame shop to have some welding/repair done. An unfortunate turn of events, to be sure. Still no luck on removing the other cam...

    Front suspension woes

wjajr, that looks oddly familiar.... quite similar to the tool the service manual describes to release the upper ball joint. I'll see if I can fab that up tomorrow and put it to use. Incidental question: I've already gotten the upper ball joint out - I'll have to see where I can expand the tool...

    Front suspension woes

Thanks for the words of advice, formulaS. You are correct on the pronunciation of BFH, by the way. I'll give the heat a try tomorrow; the rear bolt is now somewhat loose L to R, but still won't budge front to back. And now I have a reason to get some more tools! Won't my wife be happy about...

    Front suspension woes

I recently picked up a PST polygraphite front suspension kit for my '67 fastback, and have been slowly going about replacing the various bushings, etc., that haven't been touched in 40+ years.... (I asked about some tie rod end removal info a week or so ago - thanks for the help!) So, here...

    Idler arm removal

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I've tried the BFH approach, although I may see if I can jack the car up higher to get an even BIGGER BFH (would that be a RBFH?) on to it. I hadn't thought to reconnect the driver's side tie rod - that may provide the pushback, so to speak, that I need. I...

    Idler arm removal

I'm in the process of replacing the bushings on my front suspension, and am now trying to remove the passenger inner tie rod end from my idler arm ('67 fastback, 273). The pickle fork I've been hammering on isn't doing squat to separate them. Any suggestions? Thanks - Alex

    Changing to right hand threads

Working backwards, here: Year One, among others, sells new studs. RH only, from what I could find. They also seemed to be the cheapest around, although with shipping to the Left Coast it might cost a little more. Less than $3/lug, though. There were some other sites that came up to - Google is...

    Rear window corner trim

Several years ago I noticed that someone (R/T Specialties, I think) was making rear window corner trim pieces for 67 fastbacks. Anyone know if they still carry them, or if I can get them somewhere else? I've been to R/T's site, but can't find anything....

    Window leaks...slightly!

When I had my windshield replaced a couple years ago, the installation guy (a family friend - got a great deal on that one!) said I could spray and wipe a little WD-40 on the various rubber weatherstripping pieces to help them get watertight again. However, he did say that it was only a stop-gap...

    Anybody belong to Midwest Mopars?

I've considered joining, but don't have the time at the moment. Having my car on the east coast doesn't make it any easier, either! Any idea when the Mopars in the park show is? Now's the time to get it on my calendar....

    67 Big Block Cuda Project

Where was this car when I was out the northwest?!?! Man, I just moved from Tacoma a couple years ago...if I knew that beauty had been around, I might've stayed! Wish I had the cash (and the space!) cuz I'd take it in a second. Hope it goes to a good home. If you still haven't sold...
