    Edelbrock LD340 WTH?!?!?

I agree, all hype. I would never pay what some want for an old intake that could have been machined for decking or head milling then won't fit properly. I have seen them asking as much as $700 for one!!

    Edelbrock LD340 WTH?!?!?

Ok so today I did a little research on small block intakes, the famed LD340 to be exact. What's so special about them and why they supposedly out perform all others? This is what I found, look at the runner design, the LD340 runners are at the opposing ports. They hit on all the opposite...

    Pre 1970 timing cover???

Does anyone make a pre 70 timing cover with the timing tab on the passenger side? I checked many places but all seem to be the later 70 and up style.

New 318 build, just need some input.

Found a big issue upon disassembly along with other issues so I'm rethinking the whole build. For the money on machining a 318 and parts and yadda yadda I might just pick up a crate motor and call it done lol I think this build was doomed from the start

New 318 build, just need some input.

You got that right brother lol You have some good videos though. I'm going with the complete kit from Comp so everything will work. The heads are what I have on hand as I said and yes I'm sure I will be buying some playdoh lol Thanks for the straight up reply bud

New 318 build, just need some input.

Thats the type of answer I'm looking to get. I'm not into all the BS on youtube although I do have a youtube channel. There are some that are good but I don't like that some are just putting out BS on automotive issues and it makes me laugh that there are so many who will watch a whole series on...

New 318 build, just need some input.

Fuel should be atomized before the runners so I don't know about "drop out" in an atomized state when its already travelling. If we were talking about an old bread box tunnel ram that the fuel would puddle up in and explode that I would understand. When you port it actually takes down the...

New 318 build, just need some input.

Thats exactly why I'm only going to polish them. There isn't much to port except that I forgot to mention a gasket match. My thing is that on those ports I don't want to cause any reversion and have them sending the pulse backwards.

New 318 build, just need some input.

Ok guys what I have is a 1969 318 and I have a plan for a rebuild. Block needs to be bored at least .030 My plan is to use the stock crank and rods with KB167 pistons for the bottom end. 302 heads with stock valves and a little unshrouding around the valves Comp Cams Adv. manuel swap

It's your car do with it what pleases you bud. I am in the process of swapping a 904 auto to a 4 speed. I just need a few more small parts and a clutch. I scrounged for all my stuff and over the coarse of a couple years I'm just about ready to swap. I don't think I have $500 into all I have now...

1970 340 has the 1973 low compression pistons

Well guys looks like I will have to spring for a bore and new pistons anyways. I have 2 cylinders that have spots I can catch my finger nail on. Maybe a hone will clean it up but I don't think so. Hve to wait until I get it checked out.

1970 340 has the 1973 low compression pistons

Hahahahaha!!!! No boost, those days are over for me bud last one was a 68 Charger back in 2003 Back then that engine 440 with the Don Hampton 671 blower cost me about $6500 to build in my garage, I couldn't imagine the cost these days lol

1970 340 has the 1973 low compression pistons

Thanks RRR, alot of my reasoning is that I don't want to deck the block or shave the heads too much or at all if I don't have to. I don't want intake fitment issues and being a stock bore block that's been sitting around since 1975 it shouldn't have many miles on it or core shift like when the...

1970 340 has the 1973 low compression pistons

Jeeze guys, I didn't want to start an argument or pissing contest. I was just looking for experienced advise because I'm an old guy but new to Mopar small blocks. When I got my Barracuda the P-O installed a Torker 340, headers, some kind of RV cam and a junk single point chinesium distributor on...

1970 340 has the 1973 low compression pistons

Thanks bud. I need to wait until my block is checked by the machine shop, if I can keep the standard bore I just might buy those.

1970 340 has the 1973 low compression pistons

Should net around 9.8:1 I would think but the machinist will know better than me. They do stick out of the hole about .015/.018 but so did the stock 340 ? Right now its about .108 in the hole

1970 340 has the 1973 low compression pistons

Absolutely right on the compression loss with too big of a cam. I had a guy argue with me that a cam will not effect compression. I tried to explain to him that excess duration would bleed off what little there was to start with. He tried to come off like an engineer as if to be the all knowing...
