Paint it, Clear it or Let It Rip?

Sprayed this LD4B in 2016 with SPI black epoxy primer. I didn't get the car on the road until Sept 2020. Pulled the intake off in Dec 2023 to replace with the SM intake posted above . A few chips and scrapes from bolts/washers. Intake pulled off the shelf and pic taken a few moments ago.

    Paint and Assembly Process Advice

I installed engine/trans on k member , then lowered the body on it. Installed suspension and brake lines , then sheetmetal . Put tape on edges to protect. Then it was wiring ,fuel system ,interior etc. Last was glass. If someone wants to paint their car in pieces , I think the key things are ...

    Sizing carburetor

What the all-knowing Bewy does not "seem to get" is that a fifty plus year old magazine road test involving three cars from different manufacturers tells us very little (IMO) about optimum carb sizing. And that 383 Super Bee ? That's the fastest stock one I've ever seen road tested in a...

    Sizing carburetor

    I wouldn't trust your cam card as far as I can throw it, which means I wouldn't trust the cam either . Either cam lift or valve lift as written are incorrect. Card says 1.5 rocker ratio. 300 x 1.5 =450. 290 x 1.5 = 435 . 300 x 1.6 = 480. 290 x 1.6 = 464.

    Maybe I've learned a good lesson . . .

I have a 318 in my Duster. All of my B bodies have been big blocks. Myself, I wouldn't even consider building up a 318 for a 68 charger . If you are keeping the 318 , a quality (NOT an off the shelf TCI, B@M, etc.) 3000 stall converter would give it a pretty good boost.

    Painting defect cause?

If Armor All or a similar silicone based product has ever been used on the pieces, it can be a problem. Try some wax and grease remover. And if your spray gun is new , disassemble and clean it thoroughly .

Port size rpm performer manifold question

I don't own a Ed rpm, but I betcha it's 3/8 NPT. On my Speedmaster intake, the hole in that location is 3/8 NPT. Hole on PS next to thermostat housing is 1/4 NPT (on SM intake )which is what I used for my 1/2 heater hose. Hole next to it is 1/8 NPT, which I used for temp gauge. See pic :

The specifics of converting an E Body 8 3/4 rear end housing to an A body 8 3/4 rear end houseing

Yep, and the area of the outer wheelhouse that makes contact with the tire is very stiff and not easily "clearanced" with a big hammer . You can cut and modify the outer wheelhouse , but my car is already painted. In my case, I have a narrowing bar and pucks. If I ever get too annoyed by it ...

The specifics of converting an E Body 8 3/4 rear end housing to an A body 8 3/4 rear end houseing

Well, here's my story : 72 duster . I put in an 8.25 out of a 75 dart. Meant to be a temporary rear so I could get 4.5 BC on the car until I could build a proper rear.. Put on 15x8 4.5 BS with 275/60-15. Clearance to the outside was great. Clearance to leaf spring was very tight. Would...

    Different size rims

I think it would look awful . You will most likely end up with more sidewall on the front than the back (which will look weird IMO) , unless the rear tire diameter is very large. Actually , the opposite (17 on front , 15 on rear )wouldn't look too bad. Pretty common to see late model cars at...
