    A833 mystery

I took the cover off of my A833 because it wouldn't shift. I found a broken shift fork. But aren't there also supposed to be detent balls between the shift lever cams and the pin cylinder? I couldn't find them anywhere. Could these missing parts have been behind difficult shifting that...

    Duster park lamp sockets

Yes - the newer bulbs are too short and don't press in tightly enough. I wonder if the solution is to find a new but different part number bulb that is longer. I don't know about replacing the housing because I was converting from a 70 grille so I didn't have the original Sharktooth sockets...

    Duster park lamp sockets

For my Sharktooth grille, I went with Dorman 85822 sockets recommended in a previous post on this forum. They aren't a perfect solution - the bulbs ride loosely in the socket - but I've managed to get them to work. If nothing else, they're a cheap solution...

How to replace Duster door glass

I did this two years ago and I recall having the same problem. The screw has to be backed out of the plastic fitting which is probably stripped. You need to find away to secure the fitting so it doesn't spin so you can turn the screw out. Then you just pull the fitting though the hole in the...

Yes Jim, I am feeling quite well. I was blessed with a very successful operation and a relatively easy recovery. I returned to work three weeks ago. I just started working on the Duster again. And 10 days before my operation, My wife and I became grandparents! Praise God for all his...

    Mystery holes in 340

I have a couple of Fel-Pro head gasket sets, one of which is a 1008. Both of them are missing several holes that both my block and head have them. I have a 1970 340 with X-heads. The image below shows a couple of missing holes in red, and one hole in yellow that is a lot smaller than the...

340 cylinder head bolts need washers?

Ok - so I should use ARP Ultra Torque Assembly lube?
  25. jabdusty57

340 cylinder head bolts need washers?

My 340 overheated and one of the heads warped. The machine shop says its because whoever put the engine together the last time didn't use lock washers on the head bolts. They said they could tell because the bolts dug groves into the head. Does this make sense? The ARP replacement bolts I...

Thanks for making me laugh Jack.

All this excitement is going to kill me.

I'll spend only 4 to 5 days in the hospital. I should feel relatively little pain. I'll be out of work about 6 weeks. All in all, I'm pretty lucky that my doctors caught this so I can have this while my heart is still strong. I will be fine.

All this excitement is going to kill me.

Last week my wife's post-chemo CT-SCAN revealed she is completely cancer free. Thank you for to all your prayers! Yesterday, we became grandparents. A beautiful 9-lb boy. They named him after me. The week after next I go in for open heart surgery. I'm not too crazy about signing up for...
