3G Hemi vs LSx vs Ford Mod Motor - which is the 'best'? And which to put in mopar?

The LS is a good engine, as is the Ford Modular. The Hemi? Well in my opinion it can go drop a valve seat. It's all up to whoever is building the car, what they think is the best, and which brand they trust more. The DOHC Ford is simply to wide to fit into a stock A body, I looked into it...

Do we take our MoPars for granted?

Winter storage, what's that? I drive my Fuster Cluck everyday all day no matter what weather. Of course it ain't exactly Mopar anymore, but fuel injection is nice for gas mileage and starting is easy on those -5 degree days. The body is a little rough so what's another scratch or ding?

    So /6 Matt

You laugh but the 5.0 swap is fairly easy and the 8.8 is a breeze to put in. The T-5 not so much, may have to cut out your torsion bar cross member for shifter clearance. Don't be afraid of Foxbody pedals, they are really easy to install in the Mopar automatic mopar pedal bracket, already have...

    The "Indestructible" Slant 6

Was that english? Come on I know you can do better. I'm not swapping K members and I'm not cutting my floor up to mount a 4 speed hump and re buy carpeting. Now all I have to do is just cut a hole for my shifter. I just put in a new slant K-member and I'm not going to fork out money for...

Nah, just too busy fitting my engine to read all of your hate mail. Who cares what I do with MY car? You guys should be happy it might even somehow make yours worth more. Since a Dodge V8 and 4 speed wasn't a bolt in swap either (terrible design running the shifter linkage between the floor and...

Funny how you guys act like I care. You get worked up over the stupidest things and a person can't even question the quality or lack of it when it comes to Chrysler parts and designs. I can't trust a company that had to be bailed out twice and was founded by a pair of crooks. Besides I got a...

Because Mopar parts are just too expensive to justify going through this again. The turbo is lined up for another project as well.

It was not denotation either the piston is in perfect condition except for where the rod was ripped out of it and can be seen still intact in my photos in the the cylinder. Worst part is now I have a turbo full of metal that I have to rebuild again.

    The "Indestructible" Slant 6

You're telling me I blew my own engine up after determining it was a flow problem with the head where it lost all vacuum at a certain rpm and proceeded to fix it and install a $900 turbo set up just to blow the engine up a year or so later after driving it and depending on it every day? Hands...

    The "Indestructible" Slant 6

The rod flatout failed, looking at the breaks it is obvious it was cracked for a while and eventually spread open and failed. The skirt did not cause this a weak rod caused this.

    The "Indestructible" Slant 6

OldmanRick, the twist is from the crank smashing it against the side of the block. The crank is bent bad, but the bearing surface is in good shape. The piston is still in the cylinder and in good condition except where the pin was ripped out of it during the failure. I've been burned one too...

    The "Indestructible" Slant 6

So much for all the hype about these things being bullet proof engines. My 77' Super six ended spectacularly. The factory rod found a weak point, cracked, shattered, and wedged itself between the crank and the block. Busted the front corner of the block out and stuck the engine tight. It had...

    Control arm hits the frame

I went out and squeezed under my car and shoved a camera up in there and snapped a picture, is this where your scratch is as well? The lower left hand corner is the torison bar cam.

    Control arm hits the frame

Sure. If that is the issue explain the scratches in my frame then, and how I fixed the issue by putting in a new k-member without a broken socket. I never had the front end "shimmy" either it drove as true and straight as an arrow.

    Control arm hits the frame

The k-member socket will look something like this. And if so, the other picture is a good example of what it'll take to fix it.

    Control arm hits the frame

Your picture won't load for me, but if there is a deep scratch in the frame where the torsion bar cam hits it, this is caused by the socket in the k-member where the torsion bar bolts to being broke out. Look in behind your lower control arm and see if it is broke there. The torsion bar is in...

    Ford 8.8 Swap

I swapped a full length drum brake 8.8 out of a Mazda Navajo (re-badged explorer) for under $150 total. $90 of that was just for the rear axle. Unless you are running mini tubs and slicks there is no reason to cut one down, the full length Explorer axle actually puts the rear tires where they...

noob needs help with mileage - only 10 MPG!

The absolute best I ever got out of my slant was 15-16 mpg mainly highway in a '74 Duster a904 with 2.76 gears, dropped down to 8-10 when I swapped in an 8.8 with 3.55, pulled it shortly afterward. It was a 77' super six. It had flow issues with the head and never ran properly.

    Modern Disc Brake Conversions?

Has anybody tried swapping any type of common newer spindles and disc brakes on to a factory A body suspension setup? I did a search on the site and came up empty handed. I was thinking about looking into using 90's-00'ish 2wd S-10 or Dakota parts? All the hoarders in the area won't let...
