    1969 Swinger 340

New upgrade for the spring, 16:1 steering box! Now if it would just get above zero degrees here in Ohio so I could heat the shop, I’d get it installed. Should be fun at the autox next time!

    1969 Swinger 340

Haha, thanks! I’ll try to do a better job of keeping up on here, I’ve been just trying to enjoy the car after the long build! th

    1969 Swinger 340

Thanks guys, I guess I worded that wrong, lol! I really didn't do much on the car for a long time, I was just enjoying it. I started the body work at the end of August, so it wasn't down for too long!

    1969 Swinger 340

So I haven't been on here in a good while, no real updates to the build to to this point and nothing has broken lately! I was tired of the aftermarket quarter panel causing the gas cap to leak all over the primer. The dish for the fuel filler was misshaped, and the cap would bottom out before...

    My Duster Adventures

I didn't realize it was that long since I've been on here, that's awesome that it's up and running, congrats! I beat my 5.9 Dakota for years in front of the v6 ax15 in that, so you should be good for a while!

Car is looking sweet! Can't wait to see this one on the road!

    1969 Swinger 340

Got my "new" trans in yesterday, the Dart is back in business! I had to pull the old one apart to see the damage...a mans got to know his limitations, lol!

    1969 Swinger 340

Well I haven't posted in a while, I've just been driving this thing a bunch, when the weather permits. So I decided to throw my mustang wheels from my Dakota on the car for a bit, mainly because I wanted to try autocross with a slightly better set of tires. Two days later, I found the limit of...

    2.76 8.75 Sure Grip pumpkin

Very true, my 68 fury had a factory clutch sure grip 742 with 2.76s. I promptly replaced that with a spare 2.94 open and the centersection is now in my dart.

    Awesome, thanks!

    Best magnum MPG?

68 Fury four door, 5.2 magnum, 727, obd1 injection, 2.76 gears, it would consistently get 16 to 18 in mixed driving, 21 on a trip. I took the 2.76s out and replaced them with 2.94s and my best is around 20. The 2.76s are now in my dart, because a guy I know told me to :)

    Restore or Restomod

Restomod, I appreciate restored cars, but not enough to own one. I'll vote for the 5.7 as well, the best thing I've done to old cars is put newer injected engines in them. I actually enjoy and drive my old cars now, lol!

    Post pics of your dart!

Beautiful! Are those the 17x7 lx wheels? If so, did you have to use spacers or any mods to get them to fit? I'm looking for a cheap 17 for autocross wheels, tire selection in 15" is dismal.

    Post pics of your dart!

I definitely have traction problems! I have a 3" relocation kit on the shelf, but I'm trying to enjoy the car for a bit before I tear it down again. Its fun for now, but I haven't seen its potential, spinnin ain't winnin, lol! :headbang:

Magnum serpentine belt diagram and pic

I don't have any pics of it off hand, but my cousin and I put a magnum in his 46 Ford pickup, no ac, no power steering. We used an alt mount from an ac truck, and made a simple idler that bolted to that bracket with a grooved universal pulley to replace the ps. I'll dig and see if I have a pic.

    Hemi Swap Info

That's awesome that you are doing this, I used ALOT of help from people on fabo to get mine together, and it can only help parts availability to have more people tackle this swap. I had my car at Mopar Nats this year, and was blown away at how relatively scarce these swaps still are. There was...

    727 noise?

Thanks, I will drop it and see if it's there while I'm in there. I think I remember putting it in, but the noise makes me less sure!

Wish you had your high school car back?

My first was a '79 Volare coupe with a slant, I painted it red with cragars, then traded it to my sister for my first love...70 Belvedere four door slant. Every once in a while I wish for the Volare, then I remember what a pos it was! I put big blocks in the belvedere, blew them up, and...

    727 noise?

For sure. The pan is going to come down to make sure there's nothing simple going on, then ill probably drop it out and go through it.
  21. ralphie361

    727 noise?

I think I did, I don't have an extra spring laying around after the install, but I will check that when I drop the pan, thanks! I'll check the sealing rings in the piston as well, I wonder if one leaking would give a similar issue. It definitely seems pressure path related.

    727 noise?

I thought that's what it was, and I did have a little contact and a different noise so I left it off this last time, that's when I found this other noise unfortunately:)
  23. ralphie361

    727 noise?

Yeah, it's pretty noticeable in the cab. It's kind of a odd sound, almost doesn't sound like metal to metal. I'm wondering if it's stemming from getting stuck between gears when shifting, or metal contact when the load changes. I think I'll start by dropping the pan...

    727 noise?

Has anyone ever had this noise? http://youtu.be/SXxuT3GQwIc It happens when going from drive to neutral, or reverse to neutral. I get a similar sound that seems to follow driveshaft speed, but it's intermittent. http://youtu.be/XtwTRZN8ESs Back story: bought cheap truck with front pump...

    Anybody recognize this dart?

That's me, lol! My kid was the blonde haired boy getting stickers shortly after that, those guys are as cool as they are in the show. Glad we got to meet them, and I thought it was pretty sweet to get in the show!

    1969 Swinger 340

So no progress on the car, it's in the garage hibernating, but if anyone follows the web show Roadkill, my Dart made it in for a few seconds! Over the summer they came through Cincinnati and my son and I met Freiberger and Finnegan, real cool guys. There was a good shot of my dart around 3:59...

    Diy paint/high school budget

I have always used ppg stuff, they have an economy brand called Omni that I have sprayed for years that is very good for the money. If you are doing a solid color, a single stage paint will be easy to spray and get even color/gloss. I personally prefer basecoat clearcoat in everything, that...

    Diy paint/high school budget

I've painted a few cars over the last 15 years, starting with my first in high school. I have no training in it, and learned by trying, with mixed results. The first mistake I made in high school was using sealer instead of a high build sandable primer. Any body work I did showed up, even the...

74 Scamp gen 3 swap help

Although I made my own harness from a factory one, I'm pretty sure it's similar to the Hotwire setup. I used a Hotwire PCM and it's been troublefree and they were great to deal with. For a stock daily driver style build I would highly reccomend this setup. My build thread is in my sig, I went...
