    '73 Scamp Slow Build

Well things are happening again, scored a complete 8 1/4 rear from a 73 duster! Has 2.45s which will be soon changed out for better gears and proper carrier. 3.21 gears and trac lok are on the way as well as a install kit and new axle shaft bearings. And all ridiculously cheaper than the...

Yeah, it was pretty neat to see so many in one place. Think my favorite car there was that procharged slant-6 fish, that thing was wicked.

Stop in for a cup of coffee

What a way to end work, locked my damn keys in the trunk of the scamp. No spare and the tools I need to remove the rear seat are in the trunk, go figure. Waiting for a bud to bring me some tools in the mean time, rush hour right now so it must suck. Jeez

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Another update, no compression numbers yet, had a very limited time to work on the car outside Sunday, was able to rebuild the carb, was pretty nasty..floats not set that great either. T-port sync was pretty dead on when I removed it, just barely a tad under square.. Verified tdc, mark is spot...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Update, found not one, but two exhaust leaks. Was checking my choke adjustment before I left work, fast idle at 1500 and I cold hear this tiny noise, stuck my finger around the flanges and low and behold I found hot exhaust gas hittin my finger, leaking past the header flange onto the primaries...

Hey TMM, 73 scamp, 318 2bbl 904 car. I have the mopar adapter for my eddy and an extended rod already, but my dad was sayin the the 4bbl cars had a different throw on the lever down on the trans, saying it was a shorter throw than the 2 bbl lever, and the rod that goes from the throttle bracket...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Well I'll be damned, that flippin horse puckey PCV routing was my afr issue, curb idle also dropped down to 850 and still 650 in gear. Re-routed the pcv and threw the orange springs in before I left work, and holy hell the carb is pretty much spot on now, 14-15s cruising 40-70, some small hops...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Alrighty, TDC first and then I'll follow along from your notes as well as keeping a spreadsheet of what is done to the carb. Well ****... Guess we will find out when I get back from work, I'll swap it over before I leave. God I'll feel dumb if it was something that simple, shouldn't have...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

That I know, going up the next rod size makes it too rich, 12-13s at cruise and even worse on power than it already is, usually try to aim for 14s cruise/idle in gear. Don't want to keep throwing stuff at it til I rebuild the carb this weekend, reset the floats, and set everything back to stock...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Haha, the car is pretty loud, it's the certain rpms where it doesn't drone that I can hear it. As for the stall, it does stall at 2000 rpm when I gas the car with the brakes applied, I was just saying that's what I have seen is stock for a factory 318? Curb idle, yes, 950 rpm on a warm motor...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

A5) Vacuum gauge is fairly new, so I would possibly think it is. It's intermitent, at idle sometimes it's quiet, usually at cold start, when warm it does make more noise at cruise. A10) yes, it will stall. As for curb idle in neutral is 950, in gear, warmed up, brakes applied is 650. Will...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

A5) Yes, it has a functioning PCV valve, a little noisy though, but I have replaced it 2 times and still the same. Hose isn't collapsed either. A6) No, tdc mark has not been proven, could explain how the car is running how it is if the damper has slipped. A7) Mixture screws still work fine...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Tuned? I don't think I would have gotten a 1406, but it's what the car had when I bought it so I figured I'd try to make the best of it as half the people I have read say it works great for a mild 318 and the other half say it always has issues, like my dad, said throw it in the trash and get a...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

A1) They are shared, has an h-pipe placed in about 12 inches from the collector flange. You know, you might be right, I don't recall a miss on that side before I put headers on (Dougs), that or it wasn't audible enough to hear with the old quiet exhaust and I didn't notice. There is no leaks I...

Last time I checked, at idle it was pulling about 18-19" Haven't tried seeing what it does while driving though, might be a good idea, thanks.

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Compression test is due this weekend and will probably tell me a lot haha. Will probably get a leakdown test kit when I am at the parts store too as I have been meaning to get one for a long while and have a compressor now. Plugs, last time I checked had black carbon around the ring, spanned...

    Miss and carb tuning troubleshooting

Hey all, I have been reading thread after thread trying to narrow down some of the issues I have and took in a bit too much information and need some help to get me in the right direction before I start tearing it apart this weekend so I'll lay out the problems at hand. 73 Scamp specs: -318...

    '73 Scamp Slow Build

Tiny update, finally got around to have some friggin time to get the exhaust done (damn you rain and 9 to 5's!) ooooh how she sings now.. Loving the clearance, h-pipe, dynomax race bullets, turn downs. Maybe I'll post a "sound test" video sometime this week . . .

    '73 Scamp Slow Build

It really is amazing what it does, thanks for providing us with a great product! Re-timed the distributor yesterday to about 35-36 degrees and she seems to really like it. And the vacuum advance is just right where you put it, somewhere around 50 degrees when base timing is set at 15.

    '73 Scamp Slow Build

Small update, bought TrailBeast's HEI conversion and distributor and put it in last weekend, YEEZUS, now that good **** made a difference! Didn't realize how worn out the old ignition system was. Idles damn smooth and the drivabilty of the car is immensely better. That on top of his re-curved...
