Legal question about Antique vehicles and the seat belt laws

All ABS does is prevent you from locking up your brakes. As a driver if your only braking method is to stand on the brakes, then yes. You'll stop shorter. However if you practiced controlled braking, it won't make a difference at worst or perhaps take a little shorter to stop. This is probably...

Legal question about Antique vehicles and the seat belt laws

States operate by the laws in effect when the vehicle was manufactured. California is basically it's own country at this point. While the above post affirms that no one is exempt, I know of people that assert differently. But I'll leave that to them. I have no desire or plans to ever return to...

[WANTED] 65 Fury rusty parts car. Bedford, IN

I am looking for a parts car for a 65 fury. I basically need ALL of the firewall, engine compartment and dash bits and bobs. I've got a 65 fury wagon but it was completely stripped down, plugs, gauges and all. The rest of the body could be rusted to bits. PM me if you do. thanks! I live near...

What is a respectable 1/8th mile time

Really, 15 seconds isn't slow at all. Anything under 14 seconds is FAST. Quick enough to get you in trouble. A stock non-turbo Stealth was 15 seconds. I owned one and it was a very quick car, though it was more road race type fun than drag race. I wouldn't feel bad about a 15 second truck at all.

Is Petronix solid state ignition upgrade a good option for a 65?

I had put on in a 66 F100 I used to have. Easy to install. I did start faster, not that it was that hard to start before. I have found it to be useful on tractors that see a lot of use as the points you get these days are junk for the most part.

    Orange peel

That is a bit cold. I'm not an expert painter, but when I have painted that cold I keep a couple heat lamps on the metal to keep it around 60 degrees or better. Now that's usually for equipment, so my concern isn't that great, but it's always turned out well. Just a thought if you have to...

    Excess Charging Volts

On mine, I think it always is showing a slight charge. Like you said, the ignition system alone tends to draw a good amount of voltage.

Cant keep the car cool HELP

There are only a few electric fans worth it. Of course the motorcraft taurus fans are well known. That being said, the clutch fans are usually worry free.

Needing to move a 67 GTX from Santa Ana California to Indiana or even someplace in between, like Kansas/Oklahoma/Missouri where I could meet you. The car is not running but rolls. I'd like to get this done in the next couple weeks.

    Searching for my car

Have you tried requesting a record search? Some states dispose of them after a time though. However, license plate registrations may be available via microfiche from your state library. Searching through it on the other hand... yeesh. Still that might get you to your vin. Even better though is...

    Trailer plate lights....

My trailer plates always take a load of abuse. I actually move mine to the back of the trailer. There's not room for a light back there but haven't had any problems from the law yet. I got tired of losing plates. However, those bolts could work!

New member, but old mopar fan

Welcome! I'm glad to see you've got the old Cherokee as well. They are one of my favorite vehicles. That 4.0 is a tank of a motor. The last one I had, had 425k on it when I sold it... still driving! It didn't look so pretty anymore though ahaha. I do have a 2000 Wrangler with the 4.0 and a 5spd...

1967 Barracuda Fastback Formula S For Sale in Michigan/$4500

Dang. I'm trying to get my 68 318 back. It's almost the same price and in slightly worse condition. This is very tempting. I just happen to really like my old barracuda. Never would have sold it except for medical bills. But it does put me in the position of having a lot of cash hanging around...

Aluminum Year of Manufacture plates illegal

Here in Indiana, we do not have the same restriction. It does have to be in excellent condition though. They won't accept fading. I would expect that instead of malicious intent, it may just not be a restriction he has run into. Considering how few people use year of manufacture plates on the...

    Old Gas

I'd likely do the same as above. Premium and seafoam and drive it, but I'd be concerned about the bottom of the tank. I'd at least add an extra inline filter.

    Youth and muscle cars

I'm 40 so these cars are older than me for the most part. I've got old tractors too. For me it is just the fun of working on machines. Plus the fit and finish of the old cars is just better. As far as the teen crowd now, I'm amazed at how many 16-18 yr olds aren't even interested in driving...

Also, if you ever get powder coat on somewhere you don't want it, brake fluid removes it easily.

Took the niece out shooting and got a nice surprise at the end

Very nice! Good to hear she's learning. It's important knowledge to grow up with. Also, nice shot of the Lynx! We have bobcats and the occasional cougar but getting photos of either is a tough challenge. Was it in the same location? I would have thought the noise would have sent it for the hills.

    It's Here!

Nice! I hope to get one myself one of these days. Every time I talk about 2 posts lifts I remember when I worked in a oil/tire garage in college. As I had left for break, they were bringing in an early 70s Cadillac. The thing was a mile long. Anyhow on the way back, I see something odd through...

Looking at a couple 360's this weekend - tips?

I may be hallucinating entirely, but all the -3 motors were supposed to have HD cranks. And it seems like the 360-3 Crank was an extra weird bird.

Looking at a couple 360's this weekend - tips?

Hmm, may be but I do know the 360-3 crank is not the same as 360-1 crank. They use two different cranks. If I recall, GM made them for Chrysler.

Looking at a couple 360's this weekend - tips?

The -3 denotes industrial or heavy duty. There is a 440-3 and 318-3 as well. I don't know much about the 440-3, but I do know the 318-3 does have a forged crank at least until 77.
