Hey 64mopar64 can you PM me I’m interested in the heads, manifold, carb and intake. It’s been a while since I’ve been on the site and can’t figure out the PM feature at the moment.

So my strategy: It seems both the 2BBL and 4BBL pistons can handle the Isky E-4 cam. If I replace the current cam with E-4 and appropriate solid lifters, pushrods and adjustable rockers I should be good to go, correct? I just have to be careful to use the 66 pushrods due to the block stamping...

Junkyard the motor was running good, I took it in for PM. The same shop had my 67 earlier and went through it, got it back in a week and it was a much better car for it. They addressed a number of niggly issues. So I thought I'd have them at least look at the valve adjustments on my 65.

Can any one tell me if this Hurst floor shift pattern was a stock item? I've looked at any number of first gen Barracuda interiors and never seen it. Sure looks like it could be stock though.

Yesterday I finally had the time to swap out the old Carter fuel pump with a brand new one. Started right up, easier than ever. Runs awesome. Took me 2 hours for what prolly should be a 30 minute job for a good wrench. But the results were great, and that's a major win for me. Many thanks...

OK I checked the fuel filter and it was clean as clean can be. I disconnected the lower fuel line and fuel was leaking out as soon as it became loose. Evidently plenty of fuel line and /or pump. Seems like the pump needs a rebuild / replacement. Any other trouble shooting I should do first...

My 67 resto mod Barracuda is not getting fuel. It wants to start with starter fluid / gas in the carb but won't run. Tomorrow I am going to make sure it has gas in the tank and check the fuel filter. IF it still won't start Id like ideas on what else to try. I suspect it is the fuel pump but...

Yes it is a Q-Jet. I thought they had a pretty bad rap though some say undeserved. Plus I thought they were a GM carb. I have to say the car runs pretty good though.

Very helpful 69conv - great tips. I just ran the car a bit and the fuel is now below the sending gasket so leaking until I get the gasket. BTW I got the breather element off by pulling it to the side and it popped off. Had to put lot of pressure on it but it was the answer.

That why I’d like to buy the special tools - no sparks. A couple more questions: 1) can anyone tell me where to put oil in this motor? The breather element does not twist off it just spins 2) what’s with the sign? I fill it it up with premium and a full can of octane booster. Is that good enough?

All great info, so glad I posted. I'll re-use the old retainer. I'd also like to buy the tool to make it easier. Are they readily available at any auto parts store?
