Does anybody have a recommendation on a durable paint or coating to use on a master cylinder? Excluding powder coat.

    Table Time

I don't know what kind of work space you have available, but I keep my welding and grinding area on the opposite end of the shop from my work bench. Welding slag and grinding debris ends up on everything and that's the last thing you want in your assembly area. Something to consider. My work...

Finished sandblasting a few parts and started painting. I put 2 coats of POR15 on the K frame and painted my LCAs. The brake dust shields galvanizing was looking pretty splotchy so I blasted that too and painted it as well. 2 coats primer and 2 coats of aluminum color. I need to paint the...

Got my K frame all welded up with the Firm Feel kit. The entire bottom of my K frame was beat all to hell so I made a bigger skid to cover it all up. Rewelded some of the factory welds, and welded the seams between the upper and lower halves. Also sandblasted the LCAs and welded the stiffener...

    Anyone here know woodworking?

I bought my 10" Rigid table saw about 15 years ago and have been pretty happy with it. It's not a jobsite saw. The entire top is cast iron and has a nice fence. Weighs almost 300# and has a kickdown frame attached to the base so you can wheel it around in the shop easy. I think if you buy the...

Slow progress but getting back into it. While I was waiting for the engine machine work to be done I got sidetracked and decided to take care of some planned modifications of my Jeep. Made a new roof rack with LED lights integrated into the structure to prevent removal by trail trees. Then I...

SAD..Seasonal affective disorder.. how do you northern guys deal with it?

Been here in Alaska since '02 and I'll tell you from experience, the key is to stay busy with hobbies that make you happy, distance yourself from negativity, and get outside as much as you can. I used to brew beer throughout the winter a lot, about 70 gallons annually. Acid re-flux put a kibosh...

Father and son restoration 1st car

That's so awesome he's taking an interest in it. He'll never forget the time spent with his Dad, which is infinitely more valuable than any high dollar car that can just be given to him. Great job!

    Graveyard Cars - 71 Demon

Watched 2 episodes and that was enough BS for me. Got more important things in life to attend to. Cool to see Mopars, but too much drama. Much like the Gold Rush show.

    How to heat

It sure is, that's why I super insulated my house because I live in Alaska and it's paid big dividends. But for a guy in North Carolina he's not going to need much at all to keep some heat in. Anything above that is a waste of money. Its location dependent.

    What Motivates You?

I don't do household cleaning or laundry so I can't help you out there. However, when I commit to a goal on a set date or deadline, I stick to it(or at least give it all I got). So I guess you could say pressure to meet a deadline.

    How to heat

Pellet stoves take up a smaller footprint than a wood stove and are easy to install with the exhaust going out through the wall. Once you load the hopper it's self feeding. A fan would help you a lot though with the tall ceiling. A little bit of insulation would help out quite a bit but in your...

    Indy RHS X heads?

I bought a new set of these a couple of months ago from a local guy. Contacted the company and they quit making them. They went to aluminum only, and if I'm not mistaken, Ford and Chevy only. They are bare so I still have to find valves and springs for them. I think they take magnum valves.

Getting any days off for Christmas?

I work for myself so I'm off for the next 2 weeks. I decided to cut back to a few select clients and be semi-retired too starting in 2020. Reeaalllly looking forward to it!

    Weight loss and perseverance

Well you've been an inspiration to me. Over the past two months I've managed to drop about 17# and went down 3 holes in my belt. Gained some upper body muscle but dropped some fat. Gonna have to get a new belt soon but probably not until after the holidays. LOL! Thank you, and keep it up!

Got my K frame out today. I drilled a tiny hole in the frame and pre-oiled the top end of the 4 mount bolts last week in attempt to help them break free easier. They all came out but none of the threads showed any evidence of penetration by the Aero-Kroil. Thought that stuff was the cats...

Things your Dad used to say.

After telling me to get busy doing chore or whatever, I would reply, "I am." His response would be , "I know you am!" Oooohh, that used to boil my blood! :) Miss my Dad.

    Welding Jacket Recommendation

I'm a little bigger than you and wear an XL. 6'5" 250# Something a lot of people don't think about is ear plugs. I always wear ear plugs when welding, especially overhead. Little hot spark won't be good for an ear drum. Had a close call once.

    340 damage dilemma

I've decided not to sleeve this block and gamble on the outcome with my limited dollars. Maybe if I could pluck a handful of $100 bills off a tree in the backyard I would go for it. There were a couple other factors involved in that decision as well. The block itself has no sentimental value to...

I read your post the other day and see what you mean. I'll have the machine shop do the cam bearings for me and verify. I've learned a lot since my first build about 14 years ago and will proceed with more caution for sure.
