    Brake Conversion

A single master cylinder was stock for a 4 wheel drum system and will work. If you went to a different system like disc/drum a dual master cylinder is needed. If you went to 4 wheel discs, in theory a single could work. The reason to add front discs is to make it safer to drive, not more...

    Quick engine position question

In answer to PM. Used Explorer spring perch and welded center hole to the smaller Mopar spring bolt. Then cut and welded where the shock mount was to correct the angles. Also had the aluminum Explorer driveshaft shortened by about 1/2-1 inch, 4 inch tube and looked great and cost for that was...

    Quick engine position question

Measure from the hump to the door siles on both sides. When I installed a 8.8 in a 66 Barracuda, I used 2 short Explorer 31 spline axles. The clearances came out great for the tires but not so well on the 2.5 TTI tailpipes over the 3.25 axle tubes. They can work, just very close. It MIGHT not...

    62 valiant headliner?

Pictures are of sister-in-laws 66 Barracuda that I had done some work on. On a cardboard headliner I think you can get replacements. Or use this:http://www.stockinteriors.com/headlinerkit.asp?Itemid=7803&MakeId=22&ModelId=371

    62 valiant headliner?

What is under the headliner is fiberglass matting. Pictures show what I used which is a reflective foil mat, no adhesive. Heat and adhesive does not go together.

    Air ride

2 routes to go are: Switch to a GM A-body as you can just buy what parts you need to bolt it on and go. 2nd route would be using a Art-Morrison frame or similar frame for all the air ride setup along with the correct geometry then modify the body to fit the frame. edit: after 2 days and no...

By the numbers restore or take some liberties?

You do know that you can get the manual steering gearbox rebuilt for about 200 dollars. NOT resealed, when rebuilt they enlarge the balls and the grooves. Have done it on several cars and it is some of the best money ever spent. Power steering in a early A-Body is tight and adds little in way of...

Maybe this should be made a sticky and moved to restorations section. Seems to cover about valve covers fairly well.

'61 Lancer/Valiant Hard Brake Lines? Need Help

Armor protecion sold by Summit Racing. I also bought the benders that ONLY does the single size. A bit more expensive but it does a better job.

    Stumped with rear shock length..??????

In the old days a "C-Body" shock was about 1 inch longer travel. However today I would just figure out what lengths were needed with the correct ends or something I could work around and just order those.

    Lower control arm restoration

The better question is "what is the best source for restoring this car as far as painting". Unless you are about finished. Someone here will know the answer, just not me.

    64 barracuda manual steering

Or for about 200 drop it off at a rebuilders and get it fixed. On the manual boxes that I have done, that has been some of the best money spent.

Leaf springs, modify for extra separation on launch?

No, but I did install a set of SS springs in a 69 AMX before. Reused main leaf and added the other special leafs, after redrilling the center pin with special drill bits. It did not help so set it back to stock, both the AMX's spring and the SS springs. The SS springs ended up on a 65 Coronet as...

    need motor mount help

Well since no one spoke up I will put my GUESS up and see if anyone really knows. My guess is the later block motor mount setup is the same as the 360-340 style. If it is you can either modify your brackets or get swap brackets. For the work I modified my brackets. On 1 side it just takes some...

Funny thing is that the Suregrip does well on dry roads, but never use it on glare ice. Open rear can go to 50 without problems. A posi unit when you get above 10 tends to want to swap ends, under feather throttle conditions. They are good for a summer only car.

    Under hood clearence

To test hood clearance, after the hood will close, I make a paper "straw" on air cleaner stud and do different lengths till I figure out exactly how much room do I have. Was able to added a 1/2 inch heat spacer, but not the 1 inch version. A tape straw works also.

That is not a Ford conversion! It is a York and Tecumseh conversion. It also fits other makes. Engine brackets are not included with a vintage air kit.

    X- Pipe Flowmasters

After installing the TTI dual exhaust in a 66 Barracuda with a 340 engine using the correct cast iron 273 manifolds, I would recommend the HiPo single exhaust instead due to clearance issues. You would still need the modified crossmember. The early Barracuda are a pain-in-the-a on exhaust, much...

    tranny kick down

On the upper rod, adjust to the middle of the adjustment. Cut the upper rod and measure to what the best length would be. Weld some rod to come to that correct length and recheck if your measurements were correct, you should always have some adjustment left. On 65 Corornet it used a one piece...

    tranny kick down

Well no one came? 66 Barracuda uses 3 piece kick down with 273 and 904. When change from 2-4 barrel then must extend upper rod at carburetor by about 1 1/2 inches, it helps if it is adjustable. Cable location only changes where it attaches to the carburetor. What are you working on?

    65 Cuda American racing rims

Reminds me of giving my coworker a free computer and telling him that this was going to be the most expensive "free" thing that he would ever get. 6 months later he understood what I had meant, after totaling up what extras he had bought for that computer. It was free and even had ALL the...

    Chassis bracing

Torque boxes improvements are not really needed for a-bodies. Maybe a 426-440 in a B or E body would need these. For a A-Body all you really need is a welded in frame connectors like those from US Car Tool. Those also help the doors to open better and prevent rattles.

    65 Barracuda engine swap

On my sister-in-laws 66 Barracuda I removed the 318 and put a 340 instead. With the 340 engine in stock form the rear end was not going to survive. Used a Explorer with 2 short axles and 3.27 gears.

    65 Barracuda Leaf spring help

The SS springs will change the handling of the car. What this really means is to make the car handle better it helps to put the SS springs on early and then add the other pieces later as the need for them shows up. ie. it is unlikely to be able to run a rear sway bar because the car could...
