    QA1 Aftermarket K-member Problems?

Okay, well with that said it doesn't matter if we have a 67-72 steering setup or 73-76 setup, which is what I have. The problem must be with the K-member.

    QA1 Aftermarket K-member Problems?

Definitely worth looking at, but the height on the passenger side is good. The height on the driver's side is where the problem is. Well I'm aware of the difference between the 67-72 and the 73-76 steering setup, but are you saying that you've found differences between different pitman or...

    QA1 Aftermarket K-member Problems?

What year is your car? What steering box do you have?

    QA1 Aftermarket K-member Problems?

Thanks for your response, I have checked the height and compared it side to side. The driver's side tie rod end that attaches to the center-link is significantly closer to the torsion bar than the passenger side. In other words, the center link is not parallel to the ground.

    QA1 Aftermarket K-member Problems?

Has anyone else out there bought the QA1 K-member? I purchased one and have had it on my car for a few years now, quality is very good. However, there are a few things that are questionable about the design. I changed my k-member without taking the engine out of the car, about a year later I...

valve spring damage - solid height

It's been a over a week now but I'm pretty sure that at an open height of 1.233", there was .020" clearance between all the coils. According to the Haynes book I've referenced you need at least .010" between coils. So the stock 318 springs should be good for .454" lift, maybe even a little...

valve spring damage - solid height

I don't remember exactly but I'm almost certain I only compressed it fully, long enough to measure it with a vernier caliper. I think I did it twice to double check. Thanks to all of you guys for the responses.

valve spring damage - solid height

Has anyone ever broke a stock 318 valve spring? I compressed one to solid height to calculate the max lift for that particular spring. Since then I've assembled the heads. The mopar performance book says to never use any spring which has been compressed to solid height in an engine. Dad says it...

[WANTED] Decent used set of 340/360 valve springs with dampers for $25 shipped

Guys, I appreciate your responses and your time. I didn't mean to waste it. Turns out that I can just use the stock 318 springs. There was a discrepancy between the calculations I made using specs from the parts catalog and the actual measurements taken on the spring. Since this is a...

[WANTED] Decent used set of 340/360 valve springs with dampers for $25 shipped

I need some nice, used 340/360 valve springs with dampers to break in my camshaft with, willing to pay $25 total OBO. I am expecting them to be worn and below factory free height and lower on seat pressure than new ones. Only reason I'm looking for them so cheap is that if I have to pay any...

Do I have to notch OEM valve covers to use them w/ Edelbrock performer 318/360

I've heard of people needing to clearance valve covers so they will fit with an aftermarket intake. Do I need to enlarge the notches in OEM stamped steel valve covers so that they will fit with an Edelbrock Performer 318/360 intake manifold?

Sprint Car - Almost time to back it in.

No, that Duster is my father's car. He just got it recently. That one has a 440 in it. I'm sure 318 is gonna be fine, as long as it runs well and all the parts are matched. Having less power might actually help the car hook up. And on a dry slick track, horsepower won't matter at all...

Sprint Car - Almost time to back it in.

Thanks! I appreciate it! I drew up the paint scheme on the computer, cut all the vinyl and applied it all myself. I also made all the body panels out of aluminum myself (excluding hood and tail tank). My home track is Ventura Raceway, I've been involved for almost 12 years, raced nearly 9...
