Race car & trailer got taken out at stop light

I am curious how someone would disagree with this sentiment. The insurance company is not getting paid to settle claims fairly..........just cheaply. There is a significant amount of damage and there may or may not be an injury. But trying to get them to do the right thing will either take...

'72 Demon, Stock Tank - Elec. Pump & Filter mounting?

That is how I have mine.......Tank , filter , pump at the rear of the tank. -8 to carb with regulator past the end of the carb , and gauge and return plumbed off of the regulator. The return line runs out of the bottom of the regulator , the gauge off of the front port. Not a great pic , but...

why are there 47 diff. length push rods

I had a .484 lift hydraulic and it worked great.............right up until the pushrod punched it's way through the shitty stamped rocker arm. I had no idea of their life in terms of age or style of driving. But I got a set of Harland Sharps , measured and got some Smith Bros. push rods. End of...

LDR working man drag radial class

I remember the early days of 10 1/2 " tire classes............the idea was to keep it affordable and the logic was that you could only throw so much power at this size tire. This was 2005 or so , I was at Houston Motorsports Park spectating. 632 inch Gene Fulton BBC's with four stages of spray...

How far to rev this 273 commando build

Huh ? You can float them with a roller cam and a rev kit if you have no regard for parts or the laws of physics.. With a solid cam , the springs will let you know when your right foot needs to go on a diet. The only valves that cannot float to my limited knowledge is the Ducati motorcycles with...

    !!!!!CALLING CAM EXPERTS!!!!!

The " calling cam experts " title of this thread is also the answer. I had an unground lobe billet for my 48 degree heads and called Bullet. It's been a couple years , but I seem to recall Ken as being the guy I spoke with. We spent at least 20 minutes on the phone as he interrogated me.......I...

    Possible cheap headers

That is not a job that is to be taken on lightly. If you have the tools , skills and a high tolerance for frustration , I'd say yes. Know that at least one tube a side is going into the wheel well in most cases. The reason most of the shelf headers for these bodies are 1 5/8 " tubes and 3 "...

When are you too large for an early A body....

My 65 dart stock steering wheel has like a 4 1/2 " dish in it.........went to a smaller diameter wheel with less dish and gained a bunch of room. My seat is fixed and as far back as the roll cage will let it be , so long story short , I screwed up with the build. I should have un-assed the back...

    Best street/strip tires?

I run the same size as famous Bob.....can't remember the brand for the life of me. I found tires with an S rating , tested to 112 m.p.h.. That is the highest speed rating I could find in this size and they work well.

    Best street/strip tires?

Thanks for this........I was just about to post the same question. I have ET Streets ......295X55-15 and with SS springs I did some monster burn outs , but never got a hint of hook. I changed over to CalTracs and adjustable shocks. It has an AlterKtion on the front and I know that it will not be...

    Adjust valves

I do the procedure detailed above......set the exhaust as the intake starts to open and the exhaust as the intake sets on the seat. Doing it cold , you want to compensate for expansion when the engine is at operating temp. O.K. , true confession time. I had to edit because my memory failed...

    Adjust valves

How in the name of Buddha did you get the lash set correctly ? With a hydraulic cam I have done this and given them the 1/2 turn past quiet , but that was with stud mounted rockers. Shaft mounted has to be an adventure.

    Thoughts?...sold for $7,900

If it had a four speed , it would make my willy tingle. It is a departure from current custom car philosophy , but I like the approach and execution. It has a nice old school vibe to it and the souped up six is the cat's fanny. And I have an R-3 / W-9 combo under my hood , so I figure if I can...

    Possible cheap headers

I found this out , but with W-9 heads and an AlterKtion. Made them , and it was a 40 + hour , 850.00 chuckle fest............that includes coating. Don't go cheap. You truly get what you pay for in this world. If you can live with 1 5/8 tubes , Hooker , Dougs and I think Hedman have products...

WHAT SIZE DRAG RADIAL SS SPRING '65 DART

Thanks. I am going through the rear suspension now.......Cal Tracs and some other stuff. It got involved , because I had to relocate the upper shock mounts. The shocks wouldn't clear the brace on the rear end , so in my usual style , I got carried away. As long as I was in the trunk , I went for...

WHAT SIZE DRAG RADIAL SS SPRING '65 DART

prorac1 , that is a great looking car. What size hides are those ? Oooops , I see the size up there. lol I am looking at trying to fit 315's in mine and if I have to , I think rolling the lip will give me plenty of room. But hopefully with less back space I will be good.

    A body Gas tank?

I think we're talking apples to rutabagas here. A hydra mat works to keep the liquid level around the pick up when a horizontal pick up is used.........in tank pumps like this a lot. A sump is preferred with an external electric pump unless it uses a diaphragm. Rotary vane pumps like to push...

    A body Gas tank?

Don't let their paranoia stop you. It's not the tank........it's the fumes that you have to deal with. Unless it is rust they are worried about , there is no valid reason not to if the proper prep is done.

    A body Gas tank?

If you do it yourself ............ and I paid to have the first one done many moons ago , but have done three since...........three cycles at the coin op car wash. Soap and rinse. That will ensure that there are no left over vapors to ignite. It might be over kill , but I have never had any...

    A body Gas tank?

If it's for an early A body , I have one I am replacing with a fuel cell. -10 return plumbed in the front and two 1/2 " NPT outlets on the sump message me if this works for you.......it will be going cheap.

WHAT SIZE DRAG RADIAL SS SPRING '65 DART

If you did a proper mini tub job , you are wasting 3 " of room by not moving the springs inboard. If you do move the springs , a 295-55 X 15 ET Street fits with room to spare. 6 1/2 " back space with a 1/4 " spacer because I couldn't find a 6 " back space rim. A 5 1/2 " backspace wheel might be...

    Premade Seat brackets

I bought a set from Jegs..........non adjustable. They were about as strong as aluminum foil. Cheap galvanized steel , not even .060 thick. Then I made my own. Real Flintstone like......I bent the 90's over the lip of a utility trailer's top rail. Two clamps and a big hammer. Three corners...

    Block out of square

The dowels are going to be on the same plane as they are now......I don't think they will be the deal breaker. I think I would have the block trued up. Band aids work to get you home , but for the long haul , doing it right just makes sense.
