3.09 4 Speed Gear Set Strength

I actually am looking for the internals from a good tranny. I have an A body 30 spline output trans but it is beat needs pretty much everything. It has the 2.47 close ratio gear set but it needs all the gears.

3.09 4 Speed Gear Set Strength

Can I use the slant 6 / 318 gear set with the 3.09 1st gear behind my built 340 stroker motor? I want the low 1st gear to offset a 3.23 rear axle ratio. Tranny guy was questioning if the gears were as strong as the 2.66 or 2.47 gear sets. Will they hold up?

Someone asked to see more of my 73 Dodge Van

I have a soft spot for Dodge vans. We sold a ton of them at the dealership and some of them were really nice. Big comfy leather seats wood trim everywhere.

727 Shifts Down to 2nd at highway speeds

You really should get your hands on the factory service manual. The trans section will take you through the whole thing. It is a very simple and durable trans.

727 Shifts Down to 2nd at highway speeds

The linkage on the torque flight is actually called throttle pressure. It increases line pressure as you open the throttle. It is important for durability of the trans. If you have the linkage hang up at full pressure it will shift very hard into drive and reverse. The upshifts will be late and...

Known overheat issues 4.7 RAM V8? EDIT FIXED

I have seen the water pump impeller loose on the shaft on a 4.7. It would make heat and stay cool at an idle but as soon as you started to drive it would get hot.

Dodge HellCats easy pick for thieves in the know?

They do have remote starters that just plug into the OBD ports. I think you need to program them with valid keys to work.

Dodge HellCats easy pick for thieves in the know?

The push button systems are pretty smart with rolling codes ect. The guys stealing them are probably showing up with preprogrammed modules and swapping them in. Or they are stealing the keys idk. They are not smash and grab amateur thugs

How far are you into the throttle when it kicks down? After 60mph or so mine stays in 3rd even at wot. My car has 3.55 gears.

Austin did it seem to shift and hold before the fluid change?

727 Shifts Down to 2nd at highway speeds

Austin you appear to have an adapter but your stud is in the wrong hole. Trans fluid on a mopar like yours is checked idling in neutral.

727 Shifts Down to 2nd at highway speeds

The linkage from the carb to the trans should move as the throttle is opened and end up with the lever on the tranny all the way back when the carb is wide open. The long slot in the bar at the carb is so that if the linkage sticks it can't hold the throttle open.

727 Shifts Down to 2nd at highway speeds

The linkage above should have a spring and the flat bar with the slot should be fwd against the pin.

    Vvt lock or not

Well for looks you need the dual quad manifold. Seems like your prefer old school set up why didn't you stick with LA small block or a 440?

    Vvt lock or not

I get it. Money is always an issue. Every step is another thousand. It just seems like sticking a carb manifold on high tech motor is going backwards. If you had the truck intake and computer it could be used? I helped a buddy put a 4.0l jeep motor in to a Ford Ranger we made our own harness...

    Vvt lock or not

I know it will cost more money to do but you should consider a Multi port injection. I feel like the fuel distribution is gonna be terrible with heads that were designed for a dry intake. The short tight turns can't be good to keep fuel mixed. Unless the manifold is tall tunnel ram type with...

    measuring lift on a truck

Pull a shock and take it to the parts store see how the length matches up.

    measuring lift on a truck

I have to agree with you if its lifted its not much. Are the shocks an aftermarket brand? Sometimes they have a part number stamped in the body.

Do you have rods in your head? I do.

That larger radiator works better because it has more surface area to reject heat. More tubes more fins ect.

Two steps forward and a giant leap backwards.

You should get some fresh oil in it and run it till its good and hot. Maybe run it and change it again.
