    Photos of first generation barracudas

14" Cragars. Got 'em new from Jegs about ten years ago. They have the 4" diameter bolt pattern just like the original 13" steel wheels had. Not cheap - but they really give the "period" look I wanted.

    Photos of first generation barracudas

Here's my '65. My dad bought it new in October '64 - and I drove it as a teenager. It' been in the family ever since. It's certainly not a show car, but I really like it for the (obvious) sentimental reasons. I put spitfire headers and heavy duty leaf springs on it since these photos were...

A Body Mopars in video games/racing simulators?

There's a '67 Barracuda in Forza 2 (or maybe it's a '68 or '69 - I don't remember off the top of my head). But I bought it with prize money, and beefed up the engine with high-po parts (I like to think it's a 440 - but who knows). It's really fun to drive on the New York road course - what...

    66 Barracuda Floor Console

Great picture! Thanks Rocket-Racing. I think it pretty well eliminates my concerns. Now I guess all I need is a '66 console from a black or gold interior. Anybody got one?

    66 Barracuda Floor Console

The '66-type "full" console effect is what I'm after. I thought about trying to fab one for my '65, but by the time I buy the material and spend the hours - I could just buy a '66 unit. I've seen some used ones on eBay and other sites for anywhere from $200 to $600. But my concern (other...

    66 Barracuda Floor Console

I have a '65 Barracuda, automatic on the floor. Is there any reason a '66 Barracuda (or Dart) floor console would not fit this car? Anybody have experience with this swap?

How should i paint 65 barracuda grill?

I never liked the original "body white" colored grill..... this is my flat BLACK one..... I think it complements the entire front end

I am searching for a Barracuda model !

ABCuda Have you still got the '65 Barracuda model? I am the proud owner of a real, family owned, '65 Bararcuda (as seen in my avatar). I also have a model (probably like the one you have) that my father - who originally owned the real one - painted and assembled to look just like it. I...

65 Barracuda Garage Find - I need some help

I concur with "zhandfull".... seats and floormats aren't original. Looks like the original red exterior, but it may have been repainted. Is the dashboard blue? I can't quite tell from the pictures. Anyway, I have a 65 that was originally my dad's car - purchased brand new when I was 11...

Right Angle Oil Filter - NEED HELP!!!

 Yay.......... Finally got the passenger-side header bolted down last night. Had to grind a little more on the flange, but I now have about 1/8" clearance between it and the pass-through bolt on the oil filter base. I ended up using longer hex head bolts (5/16" x 18 x 1 1/4")...

What do you guys make of this new issue?

The gauge drops to zero when you start the engine....... or when you start moving? If it's when you start the engine, it's definitely shorting out somewhere. As "mopar head" suggested, the gas tank is a good place to start looking.

    65-66 Early-A,s popping out everywhere!!

May have a few more photos on my home computer - but if so, they're several years old (prior to when I installed the new heavy duty leaf springs).... After I get the Spitfire installation done (and the car's drivable again), I'll try to get some current pics.

    new guy, new barracuda

What a sweet ride......... color's a little bit "out there" for me, but I really dig the hood scoop - and the striping - particularly the black fill along the side just under the window. As you can see in my avatar, I also have a '65 with Cragar wheels. Good catch you made - both on the...

    65-66 Early-A,s popping out everywhere!!

This IS a really cool thread, and I just wanted to add my thoughts. In the Fall of 1964, I was 11 years old. The '65 Barracuda my Dad had ordered was at the Plymouth dealership. I went with him to pick it up, and can still remember him shaking his head, saying, "Damn, I've never paid $2700...

Right Angle Oil Filter - NEED HELP!!!

cosgig: Glad to hear from you - and glad to know that there ARE others who have experienced the tribulations of the 64-66 A Body Spitfire installation. It's also comforting to hear that I'll experience a boost in performance - although my main objective was "looks"....... I really wanted to...

Right Angle Oil Filter - NEED HELP!!!

That's exactly why I'm concerned about taking it off - but to reiterate, I'm hoping it's only a redundant safety measure, and not a super-critical component.

Right Angle Oil Filter - NEED HELP!!!

It did cross my mind. But I'm not sure that it would work either, as it would (I believe) still interfere with the header collector. I'm curious - am I the only '64, '65, '66 Barracuda/Valiant owner that's ever tried to install Spitfires on the original 273 V8? ......anybody else out there?

Right Angle Oil Filter - NEED HELP!!!

I hope that brace is just a redundant safety measure - and not a crucial element - cause I took it off, swung the oil filter adaptor down (so that the oil filter faces forward), and the header will fit now - barely. I had to grind off a little on one edge on the header collector flange, as it...

Right Angle Oil Filter - NEED HELP!!!

Okay - I'm stumped............... I'm putting Spitfire headers on my '65 273 Barracuda. The driver-side header went on with no major problem, but the passenger-side is a different story. I have a Mopar Package P5249624 right-angle oil filter base. Surprisingly, it really doesn't look much...

    Spitfire Installation

If I can avoid pulling the steering column I would be a much happier camper. How high did you have to lift the engine? ....4 or 5 inches? I presume it can be lifted with a floor jack?

    Spitfire Installation

Thanks pettybludart - very helpful advice. I'll re-check my service manual, as I do not recall reading anything about a pin in the steering coupler. Do the 3 firewall bolts need to come all the way out? ...or just be loose? And it sounds like I can probably pull the column by myself...

    Spitfire Installation

I've got a couple of questions for anyone who's done a header installation on an early A-Body. I'm in the early stages of installing Spitfire headers on my 273 '65 Barracuda. I've modified the tranny crossmember, and I've removed the passenger-side exhaust manifold. I've taken all the bolts...

    '66 Valiant restoration general help

I'm not the smartest gearhead on this website, put I think putting those 273 manifolds on the 360 will be counterproductive. Considering all the other things you're planning, a set of Spitfire headers (that will run you about $250 plus or minus) won't be the hassle you envision, and will look...

    Charging Problem

I have a charging problem and I'm not sure how to diagnose it. During normal daylight driving conditions, the ammeter guage in my 65 Barracuda indicates the battery charging rate is "stable" - that is, the needle is centered between the charge and discharge regions. I can drive all day long...

    9" Drum Brake Hardware??

I went through this exact exercise last summer. I was able to order 9" drums from PartsAmerica online - but trying to find brake parts really began to confuse me - and I was hesitant to order any of them online. I went to a local shop (here in Louisville, Ky) called A-C Brake. They set me...

    Question about our grills

The previous response - that said the grille center piece is the same color as the car - is correct. However, my 65 Barracuda is white, and even as a kid (when it was my dad's car) I thought the white grille looked stupid. So I painted mine flat black.

    Spare tire cover

I spent about two months going back and forth with Jims when I tried to order wheel studs for my 9" front wheel drums. Jim's website listed both the left-hand studs (for the driver side) and the right-hand (for the passenger side). So I ordered a set of each. But the left-hand studs didn't...
