    Body Work Tutorial

SS Cuda I don't know why you would follow 320 with 400. Not needed and a waste of time and material. Second Why do you choose to sand base coat? What tech sheet told you to do this? Not just an opinion.

    Filler question

Epoxy brushed on is fine. As long as it does not see any sun it needs nothing more. Great corrosion protection and sound. Unless the seam sealer you choose is two part urethane it will eventually shrink and crack. :glasses7:

    start of body work

Urethane is the most durable paint out there and the most chemical resistant. I like the satin black over epoxy wet on wet underneath, frame rails, floor boards, and engine bays. Don't forget the hardener for this paint. http://pivco.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=53 Primer...

    Filler primer

I will try answering the question the best I can with out pics and vague info concerning metal straightness and condition....... After ya get two coats of epoxy down let it sit over nite then tack rag following with 3 wet coats of urethane primer if the vehicle is straight and ready for final...

How do I sand this down!?

    LOL! Muffler bearings!
  12. D

Do I need to sand this whole thing down!

With a clean, sound, rust free substrate there is no need to strip to metal unless metal work is needed. I would would apply some good epoxy primer (2 coats) followed with urethane primer (2-3 coats) wet on wet concerning exterior parts. On the inner fenders and fire wall I would scuff it good...

Not sure what your tip size is but I hope its a 1.3 or 1.4.... With the trigger pulled start at 30 psi at the gun. go up from there. Try getting closer (4-6 in) and keep the same speed.

Spray can and clear coat question

Spray max 2k is the best aerosol going to my knowledge. Plus you get all the benefits of chemical resistance of all modern day urethane systems. It will always be superior to all other 1k aerosols. It is expensive compared to the cheapo spray bombs. But worth every penny IMO. Good luck.

Safety question: Uni-spotter on quarter with gas tank in?

When ya are using the spotter just bump the button. Not even a second. I have never pulled a tank for a dent on an old car like that. I do keep fire extinguishers handy. I agree on the welding a quarter on part...remove tank. We are no longer invincible. Lol

    Body Work Tutorial

When ya said stripped and treated I take it you meant with phosphoric acid. Most DTM High Builds are known as hybrid epoxy. I used this type primer frequently years ago. No longer my preference. Be careful because these DTM primers don't adhere on top of acid. I have never had the bad...

I can do it and be doe for 40 bucks with 20 years life span with the spray can setup i gave him and 2k product you mix and pour in it. Preval prayers. Searh it. Amazon carries the sime little aerosol type spraye for 10 bucks on top of that. If ya use a brush on that rusteum you won't have to...

    .. clear coat / matte finish ..

Obviously you have never seen a preval sprayer. When using 2k products it is better than Sem and krylon combined 10 fold. SEM and krylon are in the same ball park. I will not use either if I want my job to last. I don't drive garage queens nor shoot dashes with 1k crap. LOL. Neither would I do...

    .. clear coat / matte finish ..

Anything getting sun needs 2k paint. Period. Get a quart setup of matte clear and a Preval Sprayer. https://www.google.com/search?q=preval+sprayer&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari Yes you will have plenty left over but the durability with stain/chemical and UV resistance will be unmatched...

    Best Brand for FK5 match

Haven't shot that color. But I would save the leftover you have presently for the quarter before anything else and use it there. Lower cost paint hardly ever matches compared to the higher end stuff. I would take a part or the car to the jobber and maybe he can pull a chip from variant deck and...
