I had a short and fried a couple wires. I for the life of me have no idea why i cant get the beast to run, and im sure its not the wiring, but it still need to replace the burnt wires, so might as well get them all. Ive never had a mopar that i couldnt get to run, but this one has me baffled.

Hard to believe , but i finally got to look at the car, and it is one bulkhead in the firewall. let my know what you want for the harness. Its getting warmer here(not that it matters to me) nut im going through withdrawls having this thing down for so long, and chasing gremlins.

all ive found were listed as V8 motors, and so far not found one, but i have time now that the cars not running..lol

I found a good carb guy and he rebuilt my 1bbl carb off my 69. It would have been cheaper to get a new one, but it was only 300 bucks to rebuild it. He does test his rebuilds on a motor

I have a 73 valiant and need an engine compartment wire harness.

1967 Firebird convertible with a 400 4 speed. Traded it for a ratty car trailer back in 77. They made 300 of them that year. now going for between 33,000 to 111,000.

Ive used the hose that goes from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner that warms the carb. Chevy and mopar use hoses like that and they come in different sizes and lengths too. Ive done it on all 3 of my A bodies.

yeah ill start checking wires and ground again. i was thinking that it was the distributor because there is power to the coil, but its not triggering anything to spark. Im now thinking a wire could be fried at the harness inside the plug on the firewall.

I put in a new distributor, tried 2 resistors, and 2 ICM. I have 3 a bodies and have a lot of parts to check with.,.lol

im heading to grants pass this weekend to visit family, but wont have my plymouth. ill retire there in a couple years. working on getting things going now and if thngs work out, ill have a nice shop and not have to work any longer...lol

the thing that struck me was the thought of having to tuck it away for winter. my plymouth is a daily driver and i refuse to drive newer cars because it keeps me sane. granted its a stock slant six. but it keeps me happy while driving it.

a leaking exhaust pipe will cause backfire on deceleration, a timing problem will pop through the carb, a bad accellerator pump will cause a pop in the carb and stumble on acceleration. so many possable problems.

i ran across a guy thats giving away a 63 slant 6 and it comes with the tranny as well. it has a holly carb on it, and its supposed to be a runner. its in vallejo ca, and if interested i can give you his number. i was going to take it, but its just too old for what i need. the guy is a ford guy...

my 69 valiant is getting 20 MPG and i drive it hard. its driven 135 miles a day for commuting to work, and ive not done anything to it. ive not even tuned the motor or gone through the carb. if i drove it sanely, and gave it a good tune up, i bet it would get 22 MPG.

if its a vacumm leak, spraying the leaking area will change the idle speed of the motor more then the sound.

I hear what your saying, but with me, it takes me longer because im never in that much of a hurry, so if need be i can kick it into high gear,. I believe we find easier ways to do things ,not so we dont hurt ourself, but were smarter with old age...lol
