    Screwdrivers

I purchased a set of JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) Vessel phillips screwdrivers for working on our '76 Toyota FJ40. After years of using and fighting with regular phillips screw drivers on the JIS screws. Amazing the fit and working of the proper JIS drivers on the factory screws. The...

3D print door handle cups (escutcheons)

No luck finding anyone 3D printing these. I did find a couple in great shape. Bought and installed. them.

Why do I ask myself why?

Agree with the "in the blood" comment. Not far from you in A.J. Sit about 1900 ft elevation against the Goldfield mountain so a few degrees cooler. A 20 lb. bag of ice in the Port-Cool on wheels helps. Even in the humid times, it will blow about 77ºF.

Friends wife lost her glasses for two days. She went to empty the dishwasher, and guess what.

    Power steering issues

Dave see my last post on "Alignment specialist confirms". I had weird issues like yours. I called the tech line of Firm Feel describing the issue with my steering box on the Duster. The tech said that this is a common condition and can be easily corrected. Remove the top centering valve (two...

Alignment specialist confirms: Bad power steering box

I called the tech line of Firm Feel describing the issue with my steering box on the Duster. The tech said that this is a common condition and can be easily corrected. Remove the top centering valve (two bolts and the hose connections). Disassemble and clean the internal components. If there is...

Alignment specialist confirms: Bad power steering box

OK here we go. The '75 Duster with a 1.25" sector shaft is bad. While driving the car, the steering loved to either turn left or right and not return to center. This was a rebuilt steering box that replaced the previous power steering box. I have been reading several posts concerning this issue...

Best brake shoes for 70 Dart 8 3/4

I went with these on my Dodge M37 military vehicle. Porterfield in California. 949 548-4470. The vehicle has 14" drums f/r. This R4-S compound is in stock for many applications. Give them a call. They have racing compounds also.

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

FYI, there is 1 1/8" of clearance between the caliper and the wheel of these US mag 17" wheels. This is with the Dr. Diff 11.75" rotor Stage 2 package.

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

Ran the Duster out on the pavement again. This upgrade is very, very good. I can only go by the "seat of the pants" for stopping, but the 11.75" stage II. Dr. Diff kit will really stop the car quickly. Wife was ultra impressed with a mid-70s' car stopping like it does. With the new 1.03"...

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

Finally got out to do a "bed-in" of the front brakes. Several hard 55 to 15mph slow downs. Very nice braking that improved with many cycles. Straight as an arrow. With hard pushing on the pedal, when nearly at 15 mph, the back drum brakes would just start to lock up on clean dry asphalt. Is...

bcj3, you are correct. The rotor in the kit is 11.75" diameter. I will stop EVEN faster now. LOL!

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

I have heard that the 15" wheels will fit over the 11.75" brake setup. If others have more info, please chime in. I should be able to get the Duster out on the road today and give an impression of the braking performance.

    Need help selecting master cylinder

My vote is the 15/16" piston master. That is what I run and it gives great modulation with the foot pedal. Not like stomping on the concrete with a boot. Your vehicle, your call.

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

Had a blood red 1970 Duster back in the day with Kelsey Hayes 4 piston caliper brakes. Very fun car. Bought it from the original owner. Engine had a 318 with a 360 crank cut down to fit. The extra throw on the crank was great. Had a Comp 270 cam, headers, 3.23 gears. You ALWAYS regret selling a...

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

Put the 11.5" brakes on tonight. Here are my thoughts on the kit. 1) Well packaged for shipping 2) Good price 3) SS brake lines have the terminal that bolts to the caliper: now a small circular not the big block with the concentric sealing circles. We shall see how these seal and hold up...

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

Yes it went by several names depending on what Mopar division the car came from. I found it at the Wellborn museum on a 1969 car. Loved it and painted the Gold Duster this color.

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

I went with US wheels in 17" size. This gives a better selection of tires than the factory ones. Also lets me upgrade to very large front brakes if I get the hankering in the future.

Dr. Diff 11.5" front brakes showed up tonight

Yes it was out of stock for a while. Back in now for the last month or so that I checked. Parts look well machined, packed well with the use of $5 worth of copper staples in the box ends LOL.

    '75 Duster steering issue

Will try this. I know that when I start the car, there is NO power box turning in either direction. If there was, there would be an adjustment of the box needed to keep it centered.

    '75 Duster steering issue

Not sure I want to spend $650 for a steering box. The Boregeson is 14:1 where my factory power box is 16:1. I am thinking either add more caster, or check the length of the idler arm and the pitman arm. They should be the same length center to center, correct?

    '75 Duster steering issue

Guys Purchased a '75 Duster from a person that put a power steering unit in the car. The power steering and associated idler arm were from an earlier (pre 1973 small pitman arm) car. The car drove and steered fine. Many years go by and the steering box starts to leak badly. I scored a new...
